The Creator - 7/10
All its merits fall into the technical department. My oh my, what 80 million dollarinos can do in some crafty hands! It looked and felt stellar. Writing, editing and such felt flat. Tropes, plotholes and, sadly, a hollow feeling bathed everything. +1 for being an original script.

I thought it was awful ^^^^
But I thought The Killer was pretty good. It started out a lot stronger than it ended though.

Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning P1.
Hollywood has to stop messing with AI and super-tech related plots.
7/10. 5 of them because of the Hayley as a delightful character compared to Cruise.

Creator 5.5/10, it's watchable but hours of laser explosions.
NuExorcist 3/10, so boring and uninspired I only got halfway through.
Latest Mission impossible 7/10, it's cheesy action blockbuster and the plot in this one is pretty weak. I find this franchise watchable, I don't know what makes it different to me to similar schlock. Why can't I stand the UK comedy spy shit {Kingsman etc.) but can watch this?

Ya he is seated 90% of the movie - was uncharacteristically low effort for Denzel, maybe he didn't want to do it? I'm hope this is the last one of these, overall his career is insane, this is probably his worse movie - I can't think of a worse movie, 2 Guns or Pelham 123?

Boston Strangler (2023) 7/10 - Solid crime drama featuring Keira Knightley. She had quite good american accent btw. The movie was visually nice too.
Old Dads (2023) 8/10 - Great comedy by Bill Burr making fun of hipsters and #woke culture.
The Mauritanian (2021) 7/10 - Good war/terrorism drama. Haven't seen Jodie Foster for ages.

The Whale 8/10 - Very good and quite authentic drama movie. Big props for Brendan Fraiser's performance. It's always nice to see that not so happy stories can sometimes end up in a positive way. Hopefully we will see more of him in the near future.

Ya I thought killers of a flower moon was 8/10 or so as well. It's based on a true story told from the perspective of the villains rather than the book which focuses on the creation of the FBI.
I thought it did a very good job of encapsulating that time period, the characters and their motivations. Obviously great performances and crazy this was only 100 years ago. This only portrays one extreme case and the turning point - something like 70% of land was stolen from these people so effectively this was the norm treatment for that time period.
I don't mind long movies, this probably could have been an hour shorter tho hence no higher than 8. Probably won't do well at box office given the 2023 attn span,.

If this was 1.30h, maybe i would've rated it 6.5/10.
I can watch a 3h Tarkovsky movie, most people can't, i really struggled with this one.

Well it depends what your critique is here. You can't fault the retelling of the story, the directing, the sets, the performances or really any of the cast - only the length which I don't think makes it a poor movie.
All I can really critique here is that none of the characters are likeable, so it's a bit like watching a 3 hour car crash. In retrospect you could compare it to "There Will be Blood" which I would give a 10 and also goes for 2.6 hours, except in the latter Daniel Day Lewis pushes the character to making you feel sick levels of menacing asshole.

Killers of the Flower Moon 6/10
The middle hour could have been cut out without that much of an impact.
It was ok, but some stuff seems really hard to believe. The osage are excessively passive IMO, but maybe that was really how it all went down.

yeah, there will be be blood is a 9 or even a 10. it never feels this disjointed, it's just way better written.
the original story is one thing, but it doesn't do a good job of telling it.
the economy seems off. like having your picture taken was $45 i believe they say in the movie. Someone is also buying meat for $350 or whatever it was, sounds pretty insane.
According to chatgpt the cost was a few cents to a few dollars to have your picture taken 100 years ago.
i guess because its an American movie its translated to today's prices instead because they believe people are too stupid to understand that prices were much lower 100 years ago. makes you wonder what other stuff they've changed "because otherwise you wouldn't understand".

The Hunger Games: 7/10.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire: 7.5/10 on its own (largely the same as the previous one but just a bit better), but as a sequel 7/10.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1: 6/10.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2: 7/10.
The Hunger Games Quadrilogy: 7/10. This really should've been a TV show, there was quite some stuff badly explained / cut.
Documentary of the Flower Moon: 6.5/10. Way, way, way too long for a movie. Story was OK enough although it was a bit repetitive at times and didn't really progress until the last hour.

"The Hunger Games"... Watched it upon release in good quality, and the first action scene felt like a small drunken child tried HARD to film teenagers in cheap costumes shuffling about. Dutch angles galore.
Honestly felt like the camera was in one of these cocksuckers' hand:
Spoiler: | |
I don't have motion sickness at all, yet this scene alone made me feel what some might experience.
Stopped it right then and there, laughed then deleted the thing and never looked back.
Is this thing really worth watching all the way through?

I didn't have motion sickness from watching it (I'm quite sensitive to it usually). Watched 4K releases. I'd say it's worth watching if you're somewhat into battle royale movies. Some of the cheesy romance bits from first movie can be fast forwarded. The cast does a really good job (especially Woody, Sutherland and in later ones Jeffery Wright of course).

Hunger Games, like most young adult novel/movies the first movie is pretty good and then the rest they try expand the universe and get progressively worse.

Sicaro
My third time watching it over the years. Really good movie (8/10). I just don't get the beginning, why would they want to have like 30 bodies in the walls?? 1) it's evidence of MASS murder 2) bodies has a tendency to smell and even at this stage they have began to smell if you look at the reaction from them (covers their noses), so stupid. maybe if vacuum sealed, but even that doesn't make a lot of sense, maybe short term storage, but they've built them into the walls = long term/forever storage.
I also don't think Kate's determination is established well enough. Yes 2 random people of the team are killed, but its never established that she's tight with them or really knows them well. The beginning should've been like 5 minutes longer to make it feel like they were really close to her so you can feel her frustration more. Not a biggie i guess...
Kate works really great otherwise, she's mostly a vehicle, there for the ride and someone who just watches as stuff unfolds, just like the viewer.
