No more thin-blood MC, we're an senior cit...Elder who was somehow stripped of his powers.
I wonder if they kept anything from that original clusterfuck.

It looks like they kept some of the characters and story elements because that hunchback Nosferatu guy is still featured in the trailer and in that new dev diary. The change from Thin Blood was probably to give you access to cooler looking powers and it is one way for them to distance themselves from the previous stuff that was shown.
Hey guys, we're gonna take inspiration from BGIII, that hugely successful game that recently launched and sold millions! Even though we started development at the same time, changed studios & removed a bunch of features from the series. Yeah, we can totally follow the path of BGIII this late in the dev cycle. And have it out within a year. Trust us. Remember, Baldur's Gate III. Baldur's Gate III. BALDUR'S GATE III!
Graphics, jank and bugs I expect for the true masquarade experience. I can overlook that, what really matters to me in an RPG is choice & consequence and how much devs can predict and accomodate all kinds of player shenanigans.
Aiming for a level of BG3 immersive sim + story choice & consequence freedom sounds like they're biting far more than they can chew if this is to be released next year. They went for a voiced and preset PC so my expectations for that are very very low.
This is already below Troika's game by many levels.
Even under optimal conditions, it's genuinely difficult (if not impossible) to recapture the essence of what made Bloodlines so memorable, immersive and atmospheric in the first place - let alone after so many shakedowns and all the tribulations with mechanics being scrapped and themes reinvented to cater to modern audiences. Having zero expectations honestly might not be enough in this case, we need a true Camarilla miracle.

Damn, those facial animations are completely out of sync with the voice acting.
Yeah, it's rather sad that Bloodlines which is nearly 20 years old has considerably better facial animations than the ones showcased in the video, without mentioning the actual dialogues, their dull tone/exposition and how that "lead character" presents zirself.
Game seems to be made with the mindset of a kid that mixes all his favorite sodas to make the ultimate one, only to end up with disgusting sewage.
SAD!

Welp, the suits fucked it, as per usual. Such a goddamned shame.

As if the protagonist alone wasn't uninspired enough, they added one of those cringey internal narrators as well for good measure, haha. Such an awkward showcase. The original game did have very janky combat/stealth systems but at least everything else was top-notch, this one looks like it maintains the jank whilst adding a dose of consolitis on top of it along with a thick aura of streamlined postmodern blandness.
when will dummies learn: silent protagonist = more dialogue/narrative options for cheaper than a linear voiced one. Doesn't look like they have the budget or talent to make this more than a janky brawler.
