First patch had this bit btw, which seems like a kneejerk reaction to non-repeatable crashes Neutral

Frame Generation Stability - Despite our eagerness to provide players with the latest technologies, Sentry noticed that Frame Generation is also leading to crashes under specific conditions.We have decided to temporarily deactivate Frame Generation until our collaboration with NVIDIA allows us to deliver more stable drivers. This action is intended to prevent the crashes that some players are experiencing with their brand-new 40 series GPUs.


I'd probably stick with the original release or just wait for the game to simmer for a while if you use nvidia approved totally real frames™.

Sat through all of the cinematics, spent time making my character, game loads in and my character begins to stand... and it crashes. Latest drivers and everything.

I Am Disappoint

There are a tonne of reviews saying the combat's crap so I didn't have huge hopes anyway

POS Calculation Crash
Regarding the crash on the first loading screen, while we await a permanent fix in collaboration with EPIC, we've discovered another workaround thanks to MitoGouken:

Go to "X:\Steam\steamapps\common\The Lords of the Fallen"
Right click on "LOTF2.exe" - Click on Properties
Go to the Compatibility tab
Activate compatibility with Windows 8
Disable fullscreen optimizations
Run this program as an administrator

This is a preferable solution to the previous workaround as it still utilizes precompiled shaders, ensuring that you won't experience micro-stutters when entering a new biome. We recommend trying this workaround first, and if it doesn't work, then you can add "-nopsos" to access the game.

I'm getting too old for this.
Not regarding reflexes, but more in having to use these two-worlds-use-lantern-gizmo-to-do-whatever mechanics.
Also, got to the first boss (?), killed him and guy from intro appears and roasts me, after that there was some weird confusing cutscene of him snarling at someone that we really don't see. I'm resurrected, go to the same arena spot and there's nothing or no one there.
Am I losing it, mens? Laughing

Yeah that cutscene was strange and then you meet the dude by the 'bonfire.'

Game's pretty solid so far other than performance issues. Took me more attempts than I would have liked to beat Pieta, but it's been a year and a half since ER and I'm rusty. Razz

Second boss was a pushover, and the third is annoying because of its size and movement.

I wonder when it gets super hard like some previews claimed, because so far nothing's come close to the no lube pounding Radahn gave me last year.

There's so much trash in this game and the performance issues just help in masking the other problem by becoming the focal point of criticism.

- The enemy variety is quite limited. Hours into the game and most of the time I still fight the same enemies from the beginning.
- The AI is trash, the enemies see through walls and some even shoot at you because of this.
- The target selection is horrendous. I'm not even sure what's the criteria for it because way too often i find enemies in the corner of the screen getting locked instead of the enemies that are closer to me and positioned in the center of the screen.
- Losing target lock is common, especially on bosses.
- The movement around locked targets is another mystery. The character often walks and dodges as if the target is elsewhere. It's a lovely thing during boss battles.
- The lamp has quite a few annoyances tied to it.
- Due to the duality of the world, the enemies end up swarming like in horde games.
- The camera is all over the place.
- You can't rebind the lantern.
- The bosses' design is pretty basic.
- There are loading screens everywhere.

This game doesn't even have basic souls mechanics working right, 8/10 for sure!

I completely agree,

-The controls are really weird with dash and double tap roll
-In many instances the character would roll in a completely random direction regardless of camera angle or my input.
-A lot of the lamp mechanics are just so clunky and awkward to use.
-All of the characters are even less interesting than the ones in Dark Souls 1
-From Software level design is just so much better.

Encountered the first boss.
Seems doable, but at the moment I'm not having much patience to grind her down.
Really miss ER here, in the same scenario I could just fuck off to explore, search new weapons, armor and upgrades, but here with everything locked in... ugh

She's quite easy to deal with. The real challenge with the boss fights is to put up with all the junk that's happening, especially when fights devolve into slow motion weirdness.

It's an enjoyable enough soulslike, but the umbral world thing is kinda pissing me off. The game forces you to go umbral quite a lot in order to progress, and you have to spend extended periods there while there's a timer ticking and while new mobs spawn endlessly. Love it when I'm fighting a big baddie and suddenly a mob that wasn't there before hits me in the back.

I noticed a lot of this in my 2h demo but thought it was me.. glad I refunded.

They may as well have not supported m+k as well.

Beside the loading screens when resting and teleporting....How do you see loading screen everywhere?

@Divvy The worst part is the red mfer that spawns at 3.00x dread. When you are fighting a miniboss/boss he's disabled but as soon as you kill the boss he spawns right away Smile

Same my hope is for improvement after I'm done with Spiderman 2, Ghostrunner 2 and Mirage.
It's close to unplayable in this state, insane fps drops in that Blighttown like area a bit after the main hub.

It doesn't, the catalyst is just a lash and you have to assume. Laughing

Even on the lowest settings the game runs like ass and there's input lag in the major boss battles.
