That's exactly what's gonna happen with that "re-balanced" in the "features", sadly. They gonna butcher it and make it a Barbie in the Land of the Rainbow Ponies game.

I admit I never finished it back in the days. It really needed big concentration and planning what to shoot and buy and what not. But my problem with it wasn't that much with the difficulty but the stupid braindead zombie companions who would either get stuck in a wall or fall from a fucking plank and die. Those fucks made me rage so much. Mad

Yup, that's the one. The patch fixes everything that the standard GOG version doesn't touch (very low FOV, no AA/AF/widescreen support, and so on), making the game perfectly playable on modern systems. The companions sadly are still pears, but still better than Daikatana's ones Very Happy Laughing

Damn, finally finished it! 20 years after I first played Kingpin. Definitely not a game for beginners such as me back then. You are just thrown up in the game without absolutely 0 explanation on what to do. Even the default controls are a mess - walking with the arrow keys but using Y, X and Q for commands (altho they are rarely needed) and reloading with R ?!! Laughing Good thing they are easily enough to reconfigure. The graphics are super nice for such an old game (after using the unofficial patch).
The Cypress Hill songs are good but only 3 and 90% of the time only "16 men 'till there's no men left"'s instrumental is playing.
Story is nearly non-extent - they beat you up and leave you barely breathing and you go on a revenge spree until you reach the Kingpin and replace him.
Melee combat is absolutely frustrating when most of the time you miss even tho your crowbar is in the fucker's face. The mice are the worst - like walking mini-mines who take 1 hp from you every time you step on them (but stepping doesn't kill them) and almost impossible to kill with the pipe or crowbar, when ammo became plenty enough I was shooting them!
The shooting is good enough. Especially when you blow up some head after a nice headshot or disintegrate enemies with a rocked or the grenade launcher. Too bad the latter 2 weapons are hard to hit and I didn't use them much.
And the AI isn't as bad as I remembered - sometimes when you are shooting with 3 enemies someone disappears until you realize he has taken some route behind you (or is just stuck into a wall Very Happy ). The mercenary thugs you hire are super annoying very often tho. You can't run too fast because they will absolutely get stuck somewhere along the way and you have to go back for them...
What I loved the most was the exploration. It's a thing with most old school games, I think. Finding a secret entrance to a room where you find your first bazooka. Or swimming in the water just to find some poor dead guy cemented to the bottom, so you "break him" and get a key from his body which opens a door for a nice flamethrower. Most new games only have some secret place to jump on and the loot inside is junk (*staring furiously at "Outer Worlds"!).
The boss fights were stupid but overall I still loved the game. Probably because it doesn't put training wheels on you and doesn't tell you every 2 secs what button to press to open a door. Even at Medium difficulty it's like modern times "Nightmare". Didn't have the guts (and spare nerves) to try "Real" difficulty. It's probably near impossible.

Now that I watched the trailer for this "Reloaded" I can't find the graphics any better. The models look absolutely the same but little brighter. And they still wobble (but I guess that's part of the game's charm). Oh and btw after looking at the game files, the folder for all female models is called "bitch". Laughing Imagine the outrage for it in a modern game.

got a reply on my angry post for the lazy teaser, that i thought a poster before/after perhaps isnt the most interesting thing ever and e.g gameplay or characters could be more interesting;

"They don't have that yet. They've stated in a news post on steam that they've decided to go back and basically rework the whole project, worth a read if you get the time. For now they're showing this because this is what they have"

so they don't have shit, and they decided to show shit, instead of waiting until they have an actual remake of the game, that they can show. That's genius

how the hell does it have 800+ upvotes? people are idiots.

...not gonna read the excuse on Steam, i expect the usual corona / "crazy time right now!" etc. the shit we hear all the time.

Such strong upscaling is both a blessing a curse, as the advantage in terms of gained details often collides with the altered visual style because of the high contrast. Same with the SiN remaster, though there should be Classic modes available as well.
I'm mostly curious about the new quest system and improvements on the AI, unless they're simply adding markers and gimping the difficulty for the Switch audience Cool Face

They added some amazing and totally-not-dumb giant dollar signs, what more do you want Poker Face

The AI was most likely nerfed as well, along with other concessions for the coucholeros. Just install the original version with the patch posted above, add Reshade + Ambient Lighting/MXAO and you're set. Lazy remustarding fucks, get your ass out of Poisonville!

Yes, don't remember such dollar signs as well. And checked some old walkthrough videos there aren't such icons. Looks so out of place, the stupid meme dollar sign kills the whole atmosphere. Weirdly in the announcement video they show them in the Original comparisons.
