From filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos and producer Emma Stone comes the incredible tale and fantastical evolution of Bella Baxter (Stone), a young woman brought back to life by the brilliant and unorthodox scientist Dr. Godwin Baxter (Willem Dafoe). Under Baxter’s protection, Bella is eager to learn. Hungry for the worldliness she is lacking, Bella runs off with Duncan Wedderburn (Mark Ruffalo), a slick and debauched lawyer, on a whirlwind adventure across the continents. Free from the prejudices of her times, Bella grows steadfast in her purpose to stand for equality and liberation.
Anythng with the Ruffalo in it is worth watching, if anything just to check his character's complete unlikeness to anything he's done before (with the exception of Avengers, of course ).
I've liked all the movies by Lanthimos so far - each with its own dose of ridiculously bizarre yet intriguing plot developments - so I'm pretty curious about this one despite the so-so premise.
Yeah, enjoyed this one. Very funny, especially Mark Ruffalo's descent into madness 😁 steam punky visual style is cool too
The numbers don't decide, the system is a lie. The river running dry, the wings of butterflies.
And you may pour us away like soup. Like we're pretty broken flowers.
We'll take back what is ours. One day at a time.
