Digger Zemin has the weirdest facial animations I've ever seen. Like a lite version of those 500% facial animations videos. Laughing

"I think Call of Duty resonates because it's believable and relatable," Sledgehammer Games cofounder Michael Condrey says.

Believable and relatable...Yep, sounds like Call of Duty

game is good, hump just has huge expectations, possibly unrealistic ones given this is a bethesda title. i think starfield really doesn't blow people away initially but at least it doesnt have PS4 cyberpunk levels of problems.

i'm not pleased about all the shortcuts bethesda has taken to get here but the game still works for me and i'm itching to get back in there honestly (12 hours in so far)
got my first shitty outpost producing some chlorine for contracts on mars, starting to get sidetracked on the mainquest already Laughing good times ahead here

My poor GTX 1080 is not having a good time of it - struggling to hit 45 FPS in exterior scenes regardless of settings. Looks like its finally met its match. Sad

What I don't understand is where all that performance is going? I bumped the preset up to ultra and was not impressed at all versus medium/high. The visuals are, for the most part, pretty unimpressive. Hell, even Cyberpunk 2077 performs substantially better on my system (I can hit solid 65-75 during action with FSR2 at Balanced or Quality on that one) - and is more visually impressive as well.

I'm really dreading having to buy one of these fucking ludicrously priced RTX cards in the near future. Crying or Very sad

I feel your suffering mate, my 1070 just couldn't cope with the stellar performance and optimization on this Gamebryostein Laughing
I've had the same thoughts regarding a new RTX card for quite some years, but I gave in and ordered a 3070ti yesterday (not specifically for this game ofc), it's been a while since I've bought a new GPU, like 5 or 6 years so I'm kinda excited for it Very Happy .
Performance in games has been very limited for quite some time now, I'm hoping to notice a substantial FPS gain in recent games since I'll be stuck on 1080p for a month or two until I get a new monitor, might go for a 1440p

Just my high expectations of not wanting a AAA game looking like a PS3 title.

It's staggering that something that looks like that requires a super computer to run at an acceptable FPS. Bethesda desperately need to drop that gash engine or at the least use IDs engine.

I like how we can board aircraft and fly around an open world in a 2015 Bethesda title, landing wherever we like. But expecting something similar in a barren exploration game 8 years later is an unrealistic expectation

Or modern animations, NPCs that look like people, decent writing, visuals that match performance etc etc. Totally unrealistic.

Nobody was asking for Star Citizen

I knew the menus felt jittery, here's a new mod that changes them from 30FPS > 60

https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/350

People shit on flash all the time, but I wonder how many realise it's in every modern Bethesda / Rockstar game for UI purposes

I’m around an hour or so into the game and I’m already getting bored.
Running around doing pointless side quests in Atlantis are bland.

I’ll give it more time but it all feels so lifeless and sterile. Nothing has depth or any kind of charm, excitement. It doesn’t feel like a living place, it’s barren of visual and audial details. The black loading screens are a killer. Enter a building in Atlantis, loading screen! Climb ladder in your ship, black loading screen.
This just makes me feel disconnected and it all falls apart as a tangible experience. Oh and the inventory system is fucking painful!

Very disappointed, so far it feels like a 20 year old game

The space battles are absolute shit. Who the fuck designed this crap? They are all about how much damage and hp you have versus how many enemies you face. There's very little skill involved because the design is shit.

If it would feel like a 20 year old game we would all be saying that it's the best game we've ever played. Imagine having a game with the rpg part like Gothic 2 and the space battles like Freelancer. You know, 20 year old games Wink

going through the sound files.

genericcrowdswedishfemale01 is just a folder of vasco voice files, same with 100's of other folders, its just the robot saying the same lines, so not something which is even used because it would be pretty weird if Swedish Woman talks like vasco..

just like with the copy/paste stuff of entire building complexes and enemies, i sometimes do wonder how much Bethesda got scammed by these 400 new people they hired for the game lol

I don't get a good feeling to say the least. Peter Hines not even knowing you can't go around on the planets and fully explore them also speaks volumes, its obvious he never even cared to play it (at least not extensively).

I think this has a rather big fan base actually. There isn't too much competition here, RPG wise..

I can't say its terrible yet because i didn't play enough.

Amazing that after all the UI fuckups since what, Oblivion? How they never ever ever learn Laughing
Or really care about the PC version, because that's the other alternative.

It's terrible for two reasons - 1. it's $170 in my country for the early version ($120 otherwise) and 2. it's a step down from their previous game ImmmOOO

If it's going to cost $120 at a minimum, I expect more than a 7/10 effort and comments defending mediocrity. I'll buy it again some day, when there are more mods to fix all of this jank and at a more sensible price point.

played it for about an hour yesterday... pretty undewhelming so far

but the bugs.... my oh my

i am not usually sb super bothered by these launch quirks but within an hour i had the big ass tooltip box (which you can't even turn off in settings) stuck at the top of the screen twice (restart game necessary) and DAT enemy A.I. -- i mean wtf they get stuck, they just sit around somewhere, they have "problems" with collision detection bouncing up and down when it comes to obstacles in the world etc

and ofc the space part. with all that hububb they make about starting and landing ingame which then ultimately just goes to show a loading screen it seems to me they were actually planning to make this possible ingame but failed to actually implement it in their old-ass engine.

anyway, typical contemporary AAA title so far

Watched an hour or so of this game.. it looks rough, really rough. Someone said it earlier, at this point why not just make a FPS game? they have an excellent engine sitting there to do it as well.

- I just see lots of mindless running around empty spaces.
- The city looks horrible (worse than Oblivion city).
- MMO fetch quests.
- STILL they make quests where you have to slowly watch an NPC walk from A to B for 10 minutes.
- Weird and buggy combat with bullet-sponge enemies, that fall through the floor, launch into outer space etc.
- It also looks like you can't carry jack shit, you also run out of O2/CO2 traversing the city (that has breathable oxygen Very Happy wtf)
- I also just read, there are No Alien Races! very dull world.

They could have just made a semi-linear space FPS with the ID Tech 7. I mean this is worse than almost anything similar in the genre. NMS is garbage but probably still better than this. The star citizen never-ending tech demo absolutely shames this shit into the ground, a really strange project especially when other games were already in the wild doing 10x more than this release when they started.
