Here's how to change FOV now:

https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Starfield#Field_of_view_.28FOV.29

Quote:
Go to the configuration file(s) location.
Create a new file called StarfieldCustom.ini, if it doesn't exist.
Under [Camera], add or modify the following parameters, where X is the desired value:
fFPWorldFOV=X
fTPWorldFOV=X

i asked on steam forums (about planet size and stuff to see)

"You can generate up to 5 tiles per planet with random landing locations, when generating the 6th random tile, the first one get's deleted.

Every random tile has a POI's"

sounds horrible.

1:39h to i can unpack / install.....

Starfield Configuration Tool - By Bilago

LOL! This guy made the same tool for Fallout 4... and that tool rocked.

If it's really him and not his children, though.

It's a bit of both, I'm just saying after playing 6-7 of these games. Modding or using mods and having some fundamental understanding of the engine limitations. How you can expect some new magical experience with full free-form space travel, vehicles etc. really?

They've created a new setting, new lore, a tacked on space combat mini-game, improved graphics in line with modern hardware. That's not a bad effort for a mainstream game.

and yeah the disappointment side, is that you can make 10+ iterations of the same thing with a different skin and that seems to be the new model for making a bazillion dollars in modern gaming... extends to movies etc. as well.

So for me with this one, there's no hype. I know what I'm getting, modders either elevate this to a must play sandbox or skip. Don't have the game btw, just the stuff I've seen and criticisms cited.

So the consensus is, as with most other Bethesda games, to come back in a few months/years once modders have fixed it.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't looking forward to see the reviews from the reviewers who weren't on the good list Laughing

i don't think it's too much to ask to be honest, like i can understand if they took skyrim and tried to make a space game with it, but here they do actually have engine developers.. they just don't seem to use them Laughing

bethesda really can't innovate much, if at all. it just doesn't seem to be in their portfolio, it doesn't even seem to be a money thing at this point Laughing i would agree they are maybe a bit too afraid to rock the boat and deliver a stinker, but i think it's more likely it's outright beyond their design team to think further than their last game + a new thing. it's a plus (having a game-studio with identity) and a minus (their obvious lack of creativity) at the same time.

i am still pretty hype here for booting the game, but i was never expecting the ability to fly to planets or anything of the sort beyond shooting other people in space ships.

every game with fucking warp gates is doing the exact same thing as starfield anyway Laughing the only ones that aren't are ED, kerbal space program and NMS.. and the majority of players don't want that sort of realism or time commitment for landing from space anyway.. i could never see bethesda making something that mechanically robust myself. would have liked it though.

excuse me now, as i must experience the harsh reality myself Twisted Evil

This exactly. They really should have switched to a new engine. Having all these segmented areas is just killing the mood for a space expliration game. After what NMS (yes I know that games also technically hides its loading) and (albeit at a smaller scale) Outer Wilds delivered years ago, it's just insane to have these individual playing fields. This didn't need to have Star Citizen scale, but when you notice all of the stitched together parts it just feels like they really put in no actual effort...

Really doesn't appeal to me, Gamebryo really shows its age and the formula is overdone.
Everything that could have been genuinely innovative or at least inspiring in some way isn't there due to limitations. The lighting looks off as per Gamebryo's usual, and they pushed it further so it ends up looking like a mix of crude 00's and some newer tech.
The fact it's not surprising doesn't make it less disappointing Razz

I agree that constant menus and loading screens completely kill the immersion in a space setting.. either do it well as a seamless experience, or don't do it at all.

The story, characters and whatnot are probably competent enough to warrant a playthrough at some point in time, but it's definitely not a given since it doesn't appear to be a narrative masterpiece either.

One or more files of your download are corrupted. With rar you could fix this with parity files, but i guess these are not available.

Performance is pretty bad and no FoV slider. The 3rd person running animation is goofy. Sad

Space control is very clunky. Maybe will get used to it but the first impression is not so good.

The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.

It's just Bethesda putting in new paint to try and hide the rotting mess that is Gamebryo.

But why move away from Gamebryo when they can get away with having unpaid modders fix it, and their customers seem to be fine with broken games on release because unpaid modders will fix it? It's a winning formula

I believe this might be end up being a commercial flop for them, but I'm not very well informed so it's more wishful thinking Razz
