Was reading it on eurosocjus, if they got their info right that will be the first time it there will be a playable demo. I'm not seeing how it will still release this year...

Yep it looks like a STALKER game alright, pretty faithful in terms of locations/atmosphere, enemies, weapons and inventory. They turned the mini-map into a compass and added directional cues, hopefully that stuff will be optional - I want to rely only on the good ol' PDA like any good Marked One would do Very Happy

My biggest fear at this point (apart from the game never coming out) is about the cinematic bits which I hope won't be too invasive, as well as the fact that the protagonist seems completely clueless and chatty. Oh, and the performance looks spotty in the trailer. One thing is for sure though, I'll play it using the original language since English sounds really awkward to me here. Suka all the way, men.

This latest trailer doesn't show any kind of... novelty (or, why not, innovation) compared to previous games.

Good graphics but... it didn't spark any kind of hype here.

Bang, bang, throw the bolt! (I know!) No characters, no story, no environment highlights... First trailers they released were more... interesting.

We'll see.

Anything but boring imo, combat was so satisfying in those games, awesome world to just be around in.

The first STALKER is up there with System Shock 2 when it comes to games i've replayed the most (of course trying the games with different mods to make the experience a bit different each time).

Never managed to finish a single Metro game, very boring games imo, but i often hate linear games.

Shouldn't be much of an issue if there's RU language and EN subs

Playing STALKER as an American... almost as bad as that last Metro DLC. As if we don't have enough Americans in shooters.

Can't say i'm impressed, looks cheap and gives me a whole made for consoles vibe.

Hopefully we don't get a linear experience like Metro cause if so it'll be a disaster.

Keep seeing posted around that people who were there at gamecom thought it looked really rough and this small area that they have is about the same one that was in the recent leaks, just polished. So it might be that there's not much game other the 10 minutes we're seeing here.

UI when he heals shows the controller DPAD layout, but with the F keys since its on pc. Indicating they didnt even think to readjust the icons or style when not using a pad. And the short sequence when he's shooting the guns they're also modern/console tweaked - shooting straight, minimal recoil or difference in behaviour. Looks to be more casualized and action oriented. Some scripted metro like moments. Im not seeing neither much Stalker here nor much to be excited about. Random, basic gameplay bits stitched together in a short trailer

it would've ~probably~ benefitted from not being developed in a WARZONE? I can neither blame or expect much from the devs tbh. Just picture yourself in that situation and how your morale would be.

Totally agree with you, i loved to snipe Bandits with my upgraded dragunov from a far ^^

What i liked the most was to roam the zone and search for secrets like anomalies, gear or some bogus sidequests.

Metro on the contrary...fuck that crap !

I highly doubt they will include RU at all into the game apart from some enemy voicelines.

The otherwise decent combat in Stalker was brought down by terrible AI. Mods have managed to improve the combat greatly, but the AI only moderately, and it remains it's weak point.

hilarious because i always thought stalkers strong point was its AI

it isn't perfect by any stretch, but it is still infinitely better than titles developed more than ten years later. maybe that's not credit to stalker, but discredit to everything else Laughing

The AI IS a strong point. It's certainly not a weak point. It uses FEAR 1's GOAP system, which gives it a sort of believable autonomy in combat, where it can chose different actions based on what you're doing and its enviroment. The main weak point of FEAR's system (while also the biggest strength) is the unpredictability of it, so there will be situations where the AI bugs out and apears stupid, but thats the nature of it. The AI is a high point of the series

i would expect the AI to be worse than even starfield because they're using ue5, which means they'll be using some bog standard "blueprint" AI whiich will only be interested in dying to the player

would be pleasant for it to be otherwise, but i don't know if modern gsc actually knew what made stalker good when it comes to the living environment and ai the original had

I disagree and say it's time to reintroduce OG Clear Sky's grenade spamming AI. You'll never complain about terrible AI again Laughing
