I think at this point Metacritic is not something anyone even looks at for total user review score because there's almost always a reason for some group to review bomb a game.

It's not like you have to purchase or play the game to review it there, unlike Steam.

Yea sadly complete shit.

Steam can be bad but at least you need to own the game (for a time)

Metacritic is just bullshit..

I stopped caring about reviews when PC gaming magazines died in 1996. Confused

it's pretty easy to mute a derp, look at the gameplay and decide if something interests you or not. Ofc performance, bugs / incomplete game is relevant although expected to be broken today.

user reviews are very important.. there's a lot of games that can look good graphically but are terrible games. There's also just way too many games these days, if you bought every game that looks like you could have some fun with you'd be broke or you'd just spend so much time going over games to find the few good ones. It's the only convenient way to sort out what might be good to take a look at.

There are also many games that has a first great first 2-4h, then just dropps terribly and not worth playing due to that. Good luck knowing that without other people's input..

I heard that this game already went gold, that is 500 000 sold copies?

Is this true?

He's probably thinking about the old badges that were given 20-30 years ago. When a game would sell 100K or 200K or whatever, it would get gold, platinum, don't even remember. Different colours signalled a certain threshold in sales.

These days, going gold means you have a master disk and the game is "finished". Anyway, Starfield is what we call a phenomenon type of release. It will sell 500K in about 1/7th of a second.

I don't remember a time when going gold didn't mean the release version had been compiled

It was a term for audio record sales, not games IIRC

alpha > beta > GM (gold master) for games

Game going gold, as we use it today, always meant that it was finished and ready for release. What im saying was a different type of gold Laughing Laughing

perhaps it was a german thing. But i came across these things constantly reading magazines in the late 90s and ahead

It will be even more funny with this game since the version (last time i checked) was v1.6-something... so it has a very high version number for a release version.

I pre-ordered it so I can play immediately on the 1st of September. I'll refund it after first starting it so I got that Denuvo ticket and from then on steam emulation will hopefully keep me afloat until the cracl.

Made me check the steam page *again* and once again no mention of denuvo anywhere (that I can see, at least). Do you want to get drop-kicked in the face men?! Mad
