I quit playing for now as it seemed to be chock full of bugs when you progress a little. Anyone experienced those? Lack of long resting and whatever the heck else

That's why I'm shelving it until most of those are ironed out. Don't wanna lose saves/sanity.

I long rested a few times in a row (still in act 1) and a fuck ton of cut scenes happened that I would consider crucial to the story. So yeah, I think long resting is a lot more important than what you'd normally guess.
I would do it until no more cutscenes/events played, then carry on playing. If you wan shelf it until the definitive/enhanced edition comes out a year or so later then do it.
This game has so much choice and consequences that a second playthrough would genuinely feel different. I'll replay it for sure when EE is out.
They rolled back Hotfix 4 since it causes new crashes and bricked peoples savegames now everyone who played with it is stuck with broken saves until they fix it, i really have to wonder at this point do they have any kind of QA over there?

How is this possible? I've seen a media outlet that gave this game a near perfect score saying that Larian kept BG3 in EA for 3 years to polish it and it shows.
I think the magic of the exploration has run out, which makes all the problems more obvious (at least for me). And with the technical issues on top, I feel very little incentive to continue.
In all fairness, the 3rd act has a proper villain. But everything is so junky that it matters less.
Once the final, definitive, completed, we-promise-final edition is out.
Like FireMaster said, I wouldn't mind having a sub-par yet functionnal experience during that timeframe, then just have another go when it's 1.0.
Seems reasonable.
I think this is still perfectly possible, but I still haven't made it out of act 1. Although the experience for me has been great so far. No crashes, no noticeable bugs, no oversexed npcs either. I think it depends on the dialogs you choose. Astarion is pretty on the surface when he initially talks about having some "fun". Only when you ask him for more details, like a virgin , he rolls his eyes and does the whole sex talk. I guess some people don't know the meaning of "little death" I told him I'd rather fuck a goblin, and he hasn't bothered me since.
There are some things to keep in mind, like long resting, and also saving frequently. But dunno how it will be in other acts when doing this.
I've had a quest ending when going to the camp, so had to reload, but it was explained, both in dialog as in the quest log, that someone will probably die if you don't act quickly. So I just wasn't paying attention. Other timed quests (saving someone out a burning house) had a similar warning, but maybe it's too subtle and glossed over too easy. Timed quests can still be completed extremely casual, btw, time only progresses when you rest.
My guess is the extended edition or whatever, will include more frequent autosaves, and a pop-up, warning either that you should camp because of story progress, or that you shouldn't because it might end a quest.
There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
Truly gone fishing.
This is absolutely not a GPU related issue even on ultra without DLSS your GPU will not have much to do and most likely clock down.
All the issues in these areas are engine related a high end CPU helps a little bit but there is some kind of engine related bottleneck so most ppl will most likely still encounter large frame drops and stuttering regardless what hardware they run the game on.

Thanks for the answer!
While this whole "long resting" and what it entails obviously doesn't mean dick to me, since I didn't start playing, on the sex/sexualized side, that's my 2c take:
I'm far from being a prude, and I guess I have a "normal" sex life, let's leave it at that.
What I mean is that I don't get aroused or interested in virtual sexual simulations.
For me, sex in storytelling only has a point when it clearly serves character progression.
Think of the movie "Basic Instincts", for example. The sex scenes serve to show "who those persons are", what their drive or passion are about.
Here it seems only gratuitous, surface level.
Again, not saying anything about BG3 since, again, didn't play it, but it seems more of fishhook for horney neckbeards than anything else.
But I can stand corrected: does any of those, except for the lulz (bear, haha), serve any purpose?

I mean it's just really short and soft sex scenes like in a movie or tv show they show basically nothing and it absolutely has the same purpose. I really have no idea why this would bother anyone well unless they are from murica or some sort of religious lunatics or both of course
