I got used to the fact that persuasion talks don't provide me with exp. But... in Blighted villaged I sneaked up on some gnolls, made talk and persuaded them that I mean them no harm.
+100 exp
Ehm, what? Interesting. I saved as I finish game for today and I will kill them later for more exp and loot ofc. But that's interesting..

Hey dont be so hard the little console eunuchs, they need time to aim their lil vibratin thumbstick.
I saw your comments earlier, you get XP for non combat checks (I don't know if it's all of them or not). But I've seen 1100 XP for avoiding combat. I don't think you need to min/max XP farm in this game though at all.. I'm still in Act 2 50/50'ing combat and level 9.5.
I had firm plans on not savescumming on Dice throws, but my dice luck is so atrocious that i caved pretty early. If i have a +7 bonus on a minimum 10, you can be damn sure i roll a 2 every fucking time
The combat in this is quite challenging. Granted, I'm an RPG casual tbh, but I've ended a lot of bigger fights taking a solid beating. But I like it, it's quite rewarding.
The whole resting mechanic just sucks, they should skip it for dnd in a video game.
It does not make any sense.
How the fuck are you supposed to use spells as a resource over multiple fights if you don't know what's comming. The only way to know when to be fully prepared is to reload or use a guide. That's a poor mechanic.
And in BG3 it just screws over your quests. Did a 3th fight before resting cause i could. Had no resources/health/spell whatsoever afhter the wight and after the fight a necro starting killing me. Why not a full rest? Did that, quest gone.
Just doesn't make any sense.
Also the mechanic that they hide food in barrels, but only in 25%ish of barrels . Cause clicking empty barrels is fun or something.
There are some conflicting issues with the mechanics design. On the one hand you waste time managing the shittiest inventory and UI in existence. Searching search through crates and barrels in fear of missing something or having to deal with a camera and pathfinder that seem to deliberately work against you.
But then you have the most basics levels ups, constants prompts warning you about your choices while having the simplest choices to make.
Lots of bugs, so many bugs. Quests, doors, dialogue, camera, t-poses, cursor getting stuck, bodies falling through the floor, cutscenes not rendering properly (there's quite a few!). I just talked to Laezel about...
Spoiler:
Orpheus. Then I talked to her about a disc I found. I asked if he could possibly be alive, she said 'impossible', despite the fact we just met him and discussed it
None that break the game so far, praise be to Shar. The encumbered one (where you have to kill yourself to fix) is very annoying and from what I have read, it existed in the beta.
Not being able to finish quests (or trigger them) is my biggest gripe. Eg: Talk to Dammon when you find a certain metal. I have 6 of the metal and it never triggers. I even sold him a piece of it thinking that might work. Nope. Or talk to X when a quest ends. Nothing happens.
Game is undercooked but I can't tear myself away. 65hrs, level 10, about to start chapter 3 (I think?)
You have to talk to Dammon with Karlach in your party directly (yep like no other quest in the game). I think there were more parts to it, I couldn't be fucked anymore since im not using her and and just let it go.
Food doesn't bother me given I had 300 kilo's of it at camp by the time I got to A2. Now I just ignore it.
The rest mechanic is fine, it's the price you pay to have screen clearing abilities with higher damage than all the weapons in the game. I probably only long rest 3-4 times total per act, there are also potions that insta-long rest a party members and Gale can refresh all spells up to Level V I think twice per long rest.. it's also why cantrips are in the game, don't waste spells on fodder.. Yeah I really don't think its a problem.
Pathfinding is annoying sometimes, spamming "G" mitigates it a lot of it. I understand why D:OS 1 & 2 give you that telekinesis ability by default. One excellent addition to the engine/scripts is the simultaneous enemy movements to save time.. it will group 6 zombies and move them all at once rather than waiting 10 mins for 6 to move one at a time.

The release earlier than expected definitely shows in some parts, for me there were some open world NPC animations that didn't play. for example
Spoiler:
The BDSM dude lynching himself at the goblin absolute temple, he was just standing there
I guess I'm still quite early to encounter anything major but with these types of games you always expect an enhanced edition later with as many kinks ironed out. I usually wait for that but everyone was hyping this up to kingdom come.
Still for the most part everything works as expected.

I always make sure the characters are in my party when doing things related to them, like when you find Karlach, I made sure Wyll was with me even though I'm not using him otherwise. The game doesn't magically select them during conversations, so it makes sense. There's tons of missable content like that, it feels like it's more or less designed to give different experiences depending on your team.
There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
Truly gone fishing.
Ugh this is annoying. I want to play melee and male, but it seems only females get the swords this round. Except i can make a custom character and lose out chunks of story. Jebus christ what a system
Another problem. I picked the vampire as he seemed quite cool and he's a rogue. Well, what does larian do? They punish me for it of course by making him almost entirely silent
If a character is cool, don't pick him/her for protagonist is the moral of the story
Guys don't rush Act 3 is a mess almost unplayable if you are unlucky as is Larian tradition. I kinda regret not taking the game even slower now lol.
Bugs more bugs and game breaking bugs on top of that oh and ofc performance issues, crashes and what looks like a nasty memory leak.
I'm convinced the nasty stuttering while moving in areas like the lower city (fps will shoot up if you stand still) is not just caused by the NPCs as people where saying but some other stuff like ability or item effect specific scripts or a combination of those going haywire in these areas.
I did some tests and most of the stuttering is probably caused by specific items with active effects and some ability's like Shadowhearts Shar effect or Paladin auras probably more.
If i didn't have any of these ability's (for example spec out of auras as a Paladin) and items and took other companions with me the game didn't stutter/drop frames as badly. It's pretty easy to replicate and this points to some buggy and/or unoptimized scripts doing things they shouldn't do in my opinion, it's probably also an engine bottleneck or something like that so not even a high end CPU will help (at least from my tests with several systems).
So for the time being you can check your items, ability's and companions for effects or auras that can be gained or lost conditionally and don't take them with you to these areas this should fix the worst frame drops.
I had firm plans on not savescumming on Dice throws, but my dice luck is so atrocious that i caved pretty early. If i have a +7 bonus on a minimum 10, you can be damn sure i roll a 2 every fucking time
It's a PC game, not tabletop so you can savescum with the rest of us <3

What are you talking about, you get all the story with a custom character.
When you pick one of the pre made characters, do you get to play out their background story too? Like eating a magical item every so often, when you play as Gale or something?
There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
Truly gone fishing.
haha this is how life feels when you've spent like every waking hour playing that one RPG, hardly going to the toilet, haven't eaten, didn't sleep for more than 3h.
i've had moments when i'm (very briefly) browsing for e.g mana in the (real-life) shop.
That last clip just shows one of the more cluncky aspects of the game though.
That trap could easily be triggerd by one of your companions cause they love to step on discovered traps while you don't control them and then you'll get a party wipe...
A game like this should be playable in harcore mode cause that's the tabletop experience, gettng wiped like this is something the devs should fix.
I'm not a purist so for me it's just meh. It seems though that the devs think this stuff is fun like in the Zentharim hideout: if your in the wrong spot there is no way to prevent a wipe and there is nothing you can do about it unless you know what is comming.
I love the destitute refugees in this game. No money, tattered clothes, begging for alms to feed their kids. Meanwhile, perfectly pristine, shiny permed hair. Game looks like LoversLab attacked it.
