Inspired by RTS greats of the 90s and 2000s, Tempest Rising is a classic, base-building real time strategy game set in a modern day alternative history war scenario. It features 3 unique factions, each with its own approach to combat and economy and offering a variety of strategies for players of all stripes, maps with neutral structures to contest and neutral populations to contend with, deep and rewarding gameplay that keeps a focus on strategy while rewarding skill, and built-in customization options that allow players to approach the game their way in both single player and multiplayer game modes.
Take on the role of Commander in the highly mobile and advanced peacekeeping corps of the Global Defense Forces or the hard-hitting and desperate Tempest Dynasty in 2 15-mission campaigns that allow the player to customize their army for each mission, as both armies seek to understand and control the mysterious but beneficial Tempest vines that grow unchecked across the war-torn planet Earth. Other dangers wait in the shadows, as the origin of the Tempest is revealed...
Features:
- Classic RTS base building with fast and fluid hard-hitting combat.
- 3 asymmetrical playable factions, each featuring distinct economy and play styles.
- Each faction offers a unique roster of units.
- 2 epic single player campaigns with between-mission cutscenes.
- Skirmish, custom games, and ranked multiplayer matchmaking with Elo rating.
Guys, it'a a game featuring full controller support. From the drawing board. An RTS designed for a controller. From the video it looks like the function keys are used as hotkeys for units, buildings, etc. So there will be a max of 10-11 for every aspect. Did you not play Sudden Strike 4 or Ancestors Legacy or Halo Wars ?
There is probably no genre that suffers more than RTS when you have to neuter it for pads. The game will need to play well while selecting units with a stick, building structures, managing units in combat. With a stick. That means it will be ultra simplistic and basic when played with mouse/kb
The marketing materials look nice, but its an rts for consoles. Even if its pc only at start.

Where do you see that controller? In the trailer above it's only keyboard. Changing construction tabs with the R, Q and F. Choosing a building with F keys. Unit commands - Z, X. There isn't any controller in the video.
It probably is smaller scale RTS but certainly not a console native.
Meh, it's a c&c nostalgia trip, but the gameplay shown looks boring and basic. Graphics are poor. If this was c&c 4, perhaps it would work. But for a random RTS just cloning an ancient RTS: doesn't gonna work.

Alas, I think this will be true.
they dont even hide it, nothing new or exciting in the feature list. It seems like they are going for SC2 type of game but it will probably not be balanced well plus its also made for consoles, looks kinda meh and colorful.
Other RTS like COH, Steel div or Wargames at least bring some complexity and additional tactical options/mechanics. So far, this just looks lame.
^ this is a console RTS, so thats probably why the areas are the size of your palm and there are barrels next to every building and the combat seems to be of units standing still shooting at each other
You're probably not gonna get large scale stuff because everything they do needs to be manageable on a pad
They plastered controller support on steam since they announced the game. It doesnt matter that they're pretending its only on pc for now. What makes a game one for consoles vs one for pc is the way its designed. This one so far looks entirely made so it plays nice on a pad.
