So, how would you rate this compared to Banshee? Do the action sequences and characters have the same kind of impact?

Yeah, definitely on par with Banshee, and the fights here have more flair for obvious reasons (with some axes, nunchucks, knives and oriental martial arts in the mix)

started watching this and just finished season 3 and its so fucking good, very similar to banshee in many aspects but didnt grabbed me as fast as banshee did, which was mostly because of antony star, so didnt really liked it that much at first even when first aired. some really great moments and characters and very nice fighting with wide camera and longish takes. s3 def was weaker than the first 2 but it did pull in the end, i really hope this gets another season
