Of course, when I think Alan Wake, I think black FBI woman .....
I mean what is the point of this bs? They did Control in the same univers, so why use the name Alan Wake if you want to do some different protagonist ...
But why do I have to play half or more of an Alan Wake game as a black woman?
What does that add to the story, that you couldn't have done without her? Every time I see this type of promotion these days, it is from a team of shit writers who could never publish their garbage ideas any other way, so they wrap it up in a pre-existing franchise, shitting all over it.
Will definitely have to wait and see. You could say the same thing about Franklin in GTAV, but it becomes obvious once you've played that game.
I kind of see the point being made, but I think a game like Forspoken is a better example. Or when they change the race of a longstanding character for the sake of it.
A black FBI agent doesn't seem out of place at all here
They probably don't want to reveal much regarding Alan Wake's sections and trippy visions, which is understandable to preserve teh mystery(tm)
So far I don't see any problem with the approach here, it could work well if the dialogues and story will stay cringe-free (big if). Fingers crossed for a prompt isodemo, though these are complicated times.
Not a fan of multiple protagonists in games, especially horrors/thrillers. Jumping from character to character, time-shifts, etc. completely destroy any immersion.
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

"oh noez one of the characters i play as is black game ruined"
Some people I swear
I wouldn't want to play a second protagonist in an Alan Wake game regardless of what color skin or genitals they have.
The fact that she's a black woman is just a symptom of modern day shit writing where they insert token characters or race-swap somebody since they have no fucking talent and are just there to push some agenda, and their only idea of diversity is the amount of melanin someone has. I mean it shows in how much they push this character in every single trailer, If not for the title, would you even know this was supposed to be Alan Wake 2? What is the problem with just making a separate game in the univers for this "great protagonist" they have? They did it with control, and that was a good game, so why not? Probably cause they were going to make an Alan Wake sequel and some people just couldn't stand the fact that there weren't enough divers characters. I'm surprised some random paranormal bullshit didn't turn Alan Wake in to a black woman tbh.
bruh this is remedy, not disney. if they think this is the best possible way to continue the story then i will give them the benefit of a doubt, they earned it. just wait and see...

As if disney is the only company doing this.. my god, it is harder to find companies that don't then companies do. But either way, the name of the company in gaming has stopped mattering for some time now, with few exceptions (usually in the asian market). How many of the people that worked on Control for example are still there? And that was 2019, 4 years ago ... I mean come on, there is no reason to give companies the benefit of the doubt. It is rare to pay off.
Come on it's Bioware guys...
Come on it's CDPR guys..
Come on it's Obsidian guys...
Come on it's "insert other company that has gone to shit" guys...
If the game releases and it is good then great, I will change my opinion. Mind you, I still hate multiple protagonist games, especially in a game like this. But I will amend my views if they actually write a compelling character. Meanwhile, all the sings point to a fucking shitshow for me, so until that happens, fuck everything about this game.
"i dont care which race or genitals" ... "the fact she is not white male is pushing agenda"
that escaated quickly lol
Mhm, just ignore all the other context cause reason.
Loved Control, female lead no issue with it.
Loved San Andreas black male lead no issue with it.
Lee in the walking dead season 1 game by teltale is one of my favorite mcs, and I loved Clementine as well, until toward the end of season 2 and onward where the writing went to shit.
Perfectly happy happy with both protagonists in AC Origins.
But let us see, you take a franchise with an already established protagonist, who's name is the name of the fucking game and shove a second that just so happens to be a black woman in an era where every fucking company spews diversity shit and crap stories. Now you take that and all promotional videos is 90% the new character being pushed with all gameplay trailers being her alone and sorry for thinking this is agenda driven bullshit and they have a bunch of hack woke writers at the helm.
If they made a different franchise in the univers, akin to Control and it was a black female lead I would have no issue with it.
But hey, it is easy to ignore my whole argument then take 2 bits of what I wrote and make a strawman.
the game has story soplit in two worls ... one being the survival horror with anal wake in the borked world and second with an FBI agent investifating brightfalls fromn the outside ... the color or gender of the agent is ab solutely irrelevent

I already said that I don't like the whole 2 protagonist thing regardless.
As for why the gender and color matter, it shouldn't, it wouldn't have mattered to me at all in the past, never had an issue with it until every single game and show/movie that pushed a black character so much ended up having atrocious writing with clear agenda behind it.
Like I said a few posts above, if the game releases and she turns out to be a well written character I will change my opinion on her as appropriate.
