@demde/@SL - Gotcha. I did read a bit about the converter but I wasn't sure of it entirely, from a security perspective. And yes, other saves aren't working for me.

Blackflag was also my favorite, followed closely by Syndicate. More than anything, I feel like the settings/eras influence whether I will enjoy an AC game - the gameplay has always been 'meh'.
