We know EOL for Windows 10 will be October 2025. Now we also know that MS will stop selling Windows 10 (desktop versions) on their site January 31st 2023.

So nearly 4 years left to go? Good.

Yeah, well, not gonna jump to W11 at all...

While my ASUS X570 mobo has that fTPM thing set so that WUpdate detects it and says that it's not possible to update it to W11 i should be safe?..

I haven't and won't update the BIOS at all, honestly...

Good. It's running pretty fine as it is so no more risk of them fucking it up with a future update. Win11 is a pretty easy skip so let's wait and see what kind of innovation they come up with in the (not so) near future.

@DV2
Yea I have had TPM and the related things off since my MB supported them.
No reason behind it other than not wanting to wake up and 'TADA! you have windows 11" as it seems to like to do if you allow it, and have auto update windows on.

At this point there is no real need for TPM or the likes for the majority of home users. It adds some safety, but way I see it if you get to the point TPM is protecting you from something. You need to learn to be less 'dumb' online and have bigger user issues than if TPM is on or not. Razz

"features" more like let us spam bing and msn news down ur throats ... , whoever oiperates msn should be shot btw, the amount of scams and clicbait advertizements on their homepage is braintumor inducing , oike the adds are so blatant scams from thumnail and text alone they should be sued for it

im gonna try this atlas OS win10 version, looks like a nice lite version

and who cares about spectre or meltdown, only play games on this shit

but in all seriousness, the fact linus is happy simple apps like explorer or the start button open up "smoothly" is just proof how fucked up windows has become ... like wtf , we need a new machine just to have a quick start menu , dafuck consumers, u have become sad sad creatures accepting all this bullshjit

Probably every hip kid and their granny are already paying for windows and office nowadays, but not me.
So, even if this isn't the proper thread for it, what's the latest or safest office 2019 activation tool mens?

you could activate it with massgravel from github, but i guess office only works with normal kms tools, i wouldn't want to have that on my system even if it's safe. (which it is)
so no permanent activation like with kms38 on windows.
im so done with this reactivating shit every 180 days even if it's done automatically in the background. if you really need office i would get a cheap key and activate it with phone activation.

Imma ride out 10 until 12 or whatever comes and see how it is.
EOL don't bother me, long as no new DirectX or such I need comes out in windows 11.

Not getting updates no huge sweat for me. Runs fine now, and if someone can get into my machine its something stupid I did to cause it. Not windows itself to start with.

I remember the end of Windows XP, where you would install it and after the install when you would go online there would be instantly malware on your PC without doing anything.

This also works well too:

But its not only the privacy stuff. It's the general vibe, look, and clusterfuck of menu changes they did in windows 11 I'm not a fan of.

Or just stick to the one I don't have to fake another to look like? Laughing

11 has nothing new in it that appeals to me. What is new is useless to me, and what they moved, jumbled around, or made worse (Control panel, vs settings, vs customization menus all shuffled around) is worse to me.

I'm not saying its BAD (well some of it is) but what they added or changed, either I don't need, is bloat to me, or annoying.
Lots more services to disable, features to turn off or hack out of it, more things to install to tweak or trick it to look a way. I'll just stick with 10, and Classic Start mod.

And I have to trick it to let me use a non internet login and use a local instead, and they keep fighting to make that harder? Nah.No thanks. It's my machine, if I want to log in as "DogDickAdmin5000" as a local admin unconnected to you, I will. I don't use MS cloud/Onedrive, or MS AI, or anything I need a MS account to connect to. Why am I forced to make an 'always connected' account to them?

Then your windows 10 install was fuuuucked up Razz

I got windows 10 and 11 here (Work machine is required to be 11 to login with work office360 account).
Neither is much faster/better than the other.

What you mean burn some Ai? Like use Grok/Chat GPT/deep AI for text or images? That doesn't run locally. I can run those and watch youtube on my tablet.
If you mean locally, I run an entire ComfyUI setup for SDXL and wan2.2 locally as in everything using my hardware. And watch youtube together (usually always at the same time, watching ComfyUI work is boring), on windows 10.

ForgeUi, locally ofc, images.

To make movies, which I'm not a fan off, you need 24 vram for some stuff.

Not a windows 11 'better at' thing.
I do that all the time in windows 10. Load multiple models in comfyUI (Sort of like if you did base -> refine ->img2img, each with different models in Forge, but different), set it to 1000 images and watch Youtube as it runs on the other screen.

And if you wasn't aware, you can do wan with 16G of ram, get the GGUF models. Requires learning ComfyUI to get it to all fit.
And I was in that "Fuck comfy It's WAYY to complicated" crowd, even tried and gave up a few times. Once I went to it and decided not to give up and saw how much more I can tweak/change/control it than Auto1111 or Forge, I haven't went back to them.

my current (iteration I am always tinkering with it) ComfyUI workflow, can do SO much more than Auto or Forge in it:
