Eagle Eye (2008?): 7/10, an old shia labouf "sci-fi" action. Fun to watch now that AI can do 80-90% of what happens in this movie.

Hell or High Water - 7,5/10

Rather clichè-ish and not exactly surprising, but it's nicely acted and atmospheric enough to provide some genuinely old-school movie vibes. It was especially pleasant to see Jeff Bridges re-enacting The Dude under a different dress.

Guy Ritchie's The Covenant - 7/10

I was half expecting a semi-serious ride with plenty of extra stylish over-the-top whip pan shots and the 'Murikan equivalent of Guy's signature oiuwotm8 dialogues, but the movie is actually a rather conventional take on the subject of war. Both the leads are believable and the story works well for what it is.

Well I liked it. But probably not for everyone, especially if you don't like "it's about family".

DnD: Honor Amongst Thieves. 7.5/10 - I don't often watch these kinds of blockbuster movies but was bored and checked this out.

This movie was pretty good, kinda what I expected but they did a good job /w the characters (well Chris Pine plays Chris Pine in everything but i expected that). The DnD stuff was nicely done without being too cringe / member-berry.

the EOB reference was a pretty cool detail.

Evil Dead Rise - 7/10
It's more like a sequel to the 2013 version than the original. Some shots and one-liners are a homage but tonally it's just a horror. Still enjoyable.

People talked about Chris Pratt being miscast, but in the grand scheme of things I think Peach was much worse. She sounds like a chain smoking tired person. After playing a billion Mario games, I expected something else entirely

Still, better than most video game movies!

Stopped watching it halfway through. I had known I was not to expect anything serious from this film, but for it to have zero semblance of realism blew the fuse on my end. Absolute cringefest, 0/10.

The Covenant

Another overrated (and overscored) movie; again, complete lack of realism. 4/10
While I appreciate Ritchie trying out something new, he should stick to his own style, as the majority of his other movies are fucking golden.

Feel good movie. Not much to juice off it, but the script was engaging and the actors were top notch. Ben Affleck as a director is heaps better than as an actor, he's showing it time and time again.

Sisu - 7/10
No substance, only low budget-high stylised spectacle. But damn if this wasn't a fine violent spectacle!

Renfield 7/10

This was pretty good, overall. The movie can't really decide what direction it wants to go, however, so it leaves you a bit hanging and wanting for more. Definitely not enough Nicolas Cage. He went full, old school Nosferatu at times, wish the movie had more of that.

Mario 7/10

Fun movie, but I'm struggling already to remember most of it. Mario's character was very bland, they played it extremely safe with him. Chris Pratt was a good choice in that regard, totally unrememberable.

John Wick 4 7.5/10

Cool action, eventually. But for first hour or so, I got bored with it and was dreading the next 2 hours for more of the same. But it gets better and the setpieces were more... inspired... in the 2nd half. Stand-out moment was the topdown shooting in the apartment. That looked like it came straight out of The Hong Kong Massacre.

There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
Truly gone fishing.
