Believable and relatable...Yep, sounds like Call of Duty

I don't find Resident Evil 4 as appealing as 2,3,7 or 8. It's just too linear and with too much action for my style. While the sense of progression is there, the sense of wonder and the atmosphere are quite lacking. To make the matters worse, this is extra cheesy, even for a Resident Evil title.
I do appreciate Capcom putting the effort into making proper remakes with solid production value and visual fidelity. But this is obviously the point where Resident Evil went haywire and 5 shouldn't have been a surprise to anyone.
To make it clear, I'm not saying this is a bad game. It's just less enjoyable for me than previous titles in the series. I don't feel as compelled to continue playing and I never had a problem like this with Resident Evil games.

I don't know why they don't, there's unlimited stories they could tell. Before, during and after. Any writer with an imagination could do it. The only thing I'd worry about is their ability to write something new without having something to wholly base it on. Even when they had that (RE3), they fucked it up.

Got about 7 hours in on the Playstation 5 and it's good so far. Very much action orientated though and not so much puzzles. Graphics are good enough. Not sure if it's better then the RE2 remake (have yet to play RE3 remake) but it's just different.

That's my feels, everything else too. It's a shooter. More of head popping, even the same circle repeats. But nvm, 2 was good both times.

re4 was overall better, fuller game than re2, also its a little bit different genre almost. re4 is action oriented tpp, re2 more alike to survival horror, also more condensed, shorter game.

Be careful what you wish for guys, at this rate we might get Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City 2
Kidding aside, I also entirely agree. As entertaining as RE4 is/was with its crazy collection of action setpieces, it kickstarted the decline of the franchise by leading it into the dark dudederp era that most of us disliked. I wonder if this remake's big success might encourage Capcom to ditch survival horror again and follow the pew-pew route 2.0 with their next titles. Hopefully it won't be the case but..time is a flat circle™

they should leave the remakes at 4th, rest in unnecessary. its time for re9 in 1-2 years, also that engine is getting old.

5 was simple fun in coop, wasnt THAT bad, ive skipped 6 completely. for me they should already stop with the remakes. re8 was great, its 2 years already, 9 is far better choice, also there are some rumours about that

Ya clocked it, got bored halfway through pro playthrough. I beat re2 and 3 maybe 6x-10x.

3 where the action started. A lot of people call 4 as the start of action whereas it was RE3 which paved the way towards 4-6 becoming action horror. 3 is also where there was the option for dodging the enemies because they increased in number.
1 and 2 are still amazing.

Well yeah Re2make is my fave resident evil game. Re3 definately has more combat, and Nemesis is not as challenging gameplay wise as Mr.X either. There is no persistent menacing threat in 4 whatsoever (they've been getting this balance right in the new games now as well). I do like the RE 1 and Zero remakes too but they are more combersome games.

its not "mystyfing sentiment", re4 released in 2005 and at that time was perfect combination of everything great in lets say "horror" action tpp games that there is. simple as that

imo that "persisting threat" is boring mechanic, just running to the save room and around the particular area to skip the boring chase. you figure it out quite quickly and after 1st rush of adrenaline (like few minutes maybe lol) it becomes more of a annoyance than some actual mechanic

Fantastic game.
I was in no rush to finish this one but it took me about 20 hours on standard difficulty including all the merchant side quests. I might play new game plus on hardcore since I missed a bunch of treasures. I hated the fact that previous areas get locked off once you make a certain amount of progress. And also no shoulder aim swap? Was this modernised mechanic intentionally not included? :/
The Mercenaries mode is a blast too.
May the NFOrce be with you always.
