I remember a couple of years ago when Gamer Nexxus said 32GB of RAM and 12GB of GPU memory was totally overkill thanks Iron Galaxy/Naughty Dog for opening the door to poor optimization and adding another level of BS expense to gaming Nvidia/AMD love it!! JESUS

at least the game looks great, like really great, really detailed, when there is high vegetation it really shines, fantastic facial expressions. those who say otherwise or that its a 10year game are clowns

Seems quite a CPU heavy game. It uses a lot of my Ryzen 5600. Performance seems here and there. On High preset I get like anywhere between 70 and 100 FPS (I locked it to 100) at 1080p with a 6600XT.

So I played this game until I reached the first consolitis mini game, where you have to pres unknown button to get free from a zombie, I knew this shit would be in there, immersion braking console crap.

Isn’t it always the same button?

If you keep buying $70 games you'll end up spending way more in no time for a machine that basically does nothing else but game and play videos.
With optimized mostly high settings (there are only a few options that directly destroy performance) I'm getting a pretty decent 1440p experience on a mobile 3060 with only 6GB of Vram.
Options to look out for:
Real time reflections
Refraction resolution
Draw distance
Chromatic abomination > Turn off
Shadow resolution
The difference between Ultra and high is invisible. And on some even the difference between high and medium like real time reflections.
It's still a shit port, especially compared to the god damn amazing God of War which I was able to run smooth even at 4K with DLSS.
The game as it stands is not worth paying for, but if you get the yarr version, assuming you're not one of the unlucky ones for whom the game simply crashes too frequently to play. You can get a decent enough experience with checked expectations and settings.

This should've been flawless given that they strategically timed the release to capitalise on the success of the TV show. Did Naughty Dog have much involvement porting this?

Likely a cascade of shitty ports from PS3 > Now. Still worthwhile business for them 15 something year old game, sell at full price a couple of hundred thousand more copies. In case you havn't noticed, none of these companies care their games run like shit on PC people interested buy them anyway.
Until you refuse to buy from a publisher that fucks you with bad releases nothing will ever change.

Finished it with one crash, shaders build built in 10min on first try. My CPU was at 56% most of the time, GPU maxed, it never dipped below 45fps and that was the average with unscaled 1080p at ultra. Didn't use the update.
Only thing that sucked was the huge non-configurable deadzone on a gamepad.
Asus, B550, 3700X, 3060, 32GB.

Got my first crash yesterday, at the sniper part (just as it ends with a cutscene, everything locks up).
Thanks for some optimising hints Firemaster, I'll give those a shot!
There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
Truly gone fishing.

Beat it. Had like 10 random crashes and spotty performance. No real drops but occasional hitches and hiccups when turning or zooming.
It's a solid game, looks great, the story and characters are good. The gameplay is engaging enough for the duration of the main story. But it's not the best thing since sliced bread.
8/10 for me.

thought that's normal for shader compilation, since the setup changes when drivers or gpu changes
anyway, I'll take that over stutterfest gameplay any day
