Jesus christ. The game crashed for me about 6 times just compiling the shaders and twice I needed to hard reboot but now that it's done I'm able to get a stable 50+ fps on medium on my 1070.

Alright finally tried this, I installed the patch and did the dll thing before launching, took me 35mins to build shaders which from what I'm reading out there is pretty lucky Laughing

On an 11th gen i7 3060 laptop on the high preset it's smooth 60+ fps at 1080p but here's the catch: dlss is on so it's technically 720p with DLSS off it's still playable but goes often under 60.

After I tinkered and did these settings

I'm able to get ~playable~ framerates at 1440p with DLSS on, since I'm playing on the big screen.
I can't complain since I got the yarr version but if I paid $60 damn right I'd be pissed.

overall very inconsistence performance, sometimes it's just smooth and great, sometimes it's hit and miss but mainly playable.
Oh and so far 0 crashes not sure if it's the patch or the dll or just pure luck.

It's the CPU mostly the game hammers every CPU in existence like there is no tomorrow. I actually have to wonder if they emulate some code from the PS5 or something like that, this is absolutely not normal this is not a big open world game it's just the same small corridors like in the old PS3 version so why the fuck does it use the CPU so much?

That is true, I haven't had any other game use so much CPU before so definitely a lot wrong with this build.

It sold a couple hundred thousand copies. Peanuts. They need to sell one of their big releases day and date on PC so we can get some extra info. So far each and every one of their games performed from atrocious to mediocre, commercially. But on playstation some of them moved many millions. So it's either that PC players are not very interested in sony's very particular mold of gamedesign (either cinematic ones with more hours of cutscenes and scripts than gameplay or extremely rote open world games where 90% of the gamedesign is copy/pasted 1:1 from Far Cry 3); or - launching older games that are so removed from their initial marketing push and consumer consciousness will just not bring that much money and sales.

I tried the dll swap "fix". Took 8 min 34s to build shaders this time. Took longer before (did not time it though). Might try the original dll and compare.

Mouse still feels weird and stuttery. A little bit better when forcing VSync in NVCP.

I patched my game and had .dll fix also.
It took 20 min this time for shaders.
After it was done I went into the options and used :
Framerate Cap =80
V-Sync =ON
AMD FSR 2 Quality
I turned off any graphic settings that seem useless to me.
I then restarted my PC
I have now played through the Prologue and I am well into the game.
No crashes. I had 4 crashes before I tried any of these. it is still early but my GPU temp is 36c And my Frames are a solid 60
Maybe give these tips a try?

Gigabyte Z590 UD AC Motherboard - Intel i5-11600k 3.90 GHZ - 32 GB DDR 4 Corsair Vengeance LPX 3600MHz- GIGABYTE RTX 4070 Windforce OC 12GB (Driver 566.03) Corsair GOLD 80 Plus RM750x PSU Gigabyte QS32Q 32" flat screen Gaming Monitor

Any optimization guides out yet? Heavy load options that have hardly any visual impact that can be turned down?

Is it possible to force it to run in full screen like with Hogwarts Legacy?

Loading time is a bit long when starting up, but from then it's seamless, so no big deal. Reloading when you die is fast too.

Been pretty lucky so far, I guess, no crashes yet and not that bad of a performance. Although the 'game zones' have all been pretty small so far (dunno if they get larger later on) that it still should run much better.

Honestly there is really not all that much you can do when a game is so extremely CPU bound, saw it destroy a second gen threadripper yesterday not the best gaming cpu nowadays ofc but it actually hammered all the cores like cinebench or something like that Laughing

Performance is better with new patch!
And Flawless widescreen has a fov plugin now. Feels much much better with max fov ingame and +15% with flawless. (playing on ultra wide 5120x1440)

Nope, neither for me. CPU is mostly around 50% and GPU around 80%.

Quite enjoying the game so far (first time), just met Bill. I suck immensely at shooting with a controller Laughing but it's forgiving enough.
