90% budget for the cast. 10% for the game. Looks like a cheap Payday game.

Trash as expected. Very Happy

The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.

How do you know you're living in the nightmare scenario that is 2024? Well, in the trailer above at 40 seconds in, you've got fully clothed "strippers". Seriously, why even bother... Laughing

First, you've gotta buy the $130 Ultimate Edition, then you've gotta authorize a $10/min charge on your saved payment method. That's every publisher's wet dream come true! Laughing Very Happy

As shitty as this initially looked, the Payday 3 release managed to make this look not so bad. Contemplating if it's worth the yarr with bots (probably not). Question Laughing

Edit - Just realized it's $16 for literally everything, might just be an idiot and blind buy this.

In essence, it's a simplified version of Payday, with the chief draw being the singleplayer roguelite campaign where you battle over city districts turn by turn.

You're in charge of managing your main team (Your boss character can go on two missions per turn, while recruited team members can only do one). You equip your team with a primary, secondary, and gadget (though weapon selection is sparse as hell). If they die or don't extract, they're gone for that play through. If you bring your boss on a mission and he dies, it's run over.

You also have "soldiers", which are your generic pawns that are spent on taking/defending districts while your main guys are used for heists and major missions.

The whole thing is set across the backdrop of the law chasing you (heat gets higher each turn, as well as DURING the turn depending on how many actions you take).

You've also got your black market, where you sell ill gotten gains like gold/luxury goods etc. (basically anything you looted that wasn't cash). Each turn, the modifiers on the sell price for category changes, ranging from -20% to +45%. These goods can also be used as an alternative payoff currency for running big heists. For example, you can pay $150k for a chopper needed for a mission, OR $75k in luxury goods - so it pays to keep some stuff in reserve.

There's also the office mechanic, where you spend extra money on items to fill your office, which grant large amount of boss xp and persist between runs. As your boss levels up, you gain both temporary as well as permanent buff cards that you choose between.

The friendly AI, while I'm sure not holding a candle to real players, is competent enough - they'll loot when they see you looting, attempt to revive behind cover, drop off loot when its clear or pick up any dropped bags. That said, I normally just leave them be until stealth breaks, at which point they make their way to me. It's not complete shit friendly AI, but it's better than Payday 2.

Of special note is the voice work - I don't know how much they payed Chuck Norris to do the voice lines for this game, but it is absolutely, positively, the WORST voice "acting" I have ever heard in my 30+ years of gaming. Honestly, they should sue him for the trash he pulled here. It's unbelievable.

Fast forward to 1:57 here and just listen. It's like the man never learned how to read, much less act. Holy shit.

 Spoiler:

Overall, the game is fun enough for $10-15, definitely no more though.

I watched some reviews when it came out on Epic and everyone said it's undercooked budget slop. It's out on a steam and suddenly a lot of 'very positive' score Confused

It sounds like Chuck Norris text to speech. Laughing

I wonder how much of this is because he's 84 years old and trying to speak with dentures in his mouth.

"I think Call of Duty resonates because it's believable and relatable," Sledgehammer Games cofounder Michael Condrey says.

Believable and relatable...Yep, sounds like Call of Duty

Danny Glover didn't fare much better.

Honestly, the only two characters that held their own are the main character, and his second in command (apparently voiced by Michael Madsen and Michael Rooker). Hell, even Rooker kind of does a trash job not being able to string a believable set of cursewords together.

The fact that they got PAID for this kind of "work" is a fucking travesty. And then there's the fact that somebody listened to it and went "Yep, sounds good to me. Ship that shit!" Just...no.
