DoD, FirearmsMod (anyone else play that?? it's long forgotten it seems), CS, and D2. Damn those were some fun times. And now I can hardly stand playing multiplayer games.
it's about what I expected, which is to say it's not really what I want from diablo
feels like an MMO
really slow start, go around talk to NPCs, wait for NPCs to open doors, wait for NPCs to move into position to be allowed to talk to them so they can then proceed to open a door. too much talking in general though I understand at least you'll only have to do the story shit once and on the next character you can skip the story..
lots of slow running around from place to place, which is par for the course for an MMO but for diablo I should be fighting 95% of the time and I feel like I'm fighting only 50% of the time I'm in the game
all skill damage is based on weapon damage (even spells, everything is just % of weapon damage) which I didn't like in D3 and still don't like here
enemies level syncing to you sucks too. everywhere is the same. at least it's convenient that you can play with others no matter what their level is and they can still get loot and experience they can use... but yeah..
skills could be fine if there are enough item modifiers to skills, of which I have seen a couple, but that remains to be seen
so yeah. Diablo X WoW, super streamlined. looks good and feels good to play when you're in the thick of it at least...
Yeah the level scaling is a necessity since they decided to do an open world game, but they need to smooth out the scaling a bit. You shouldn't all of a sudden feel so much weaker after gaining a level and haven't gotten your new gear to drop yet. At least in early game when you don't have so much a build as just trying new skills and equipping every new item that gives you + damage increase. Very lazy modern game design.
well played it up to l15, it sure as hell ain't no POE even if there is a screwed-up attempt for path of exile style attributing. The offsider/companion bizzo which was developed into something handy in d3, in d4 is like having a tattoo up yer arse, that is a lot of hassle & nothing to show for it as once yer stuck into a decent blue the offsider spends its time dying then coming back to life, usually right in yer way.
Maybe the game will sort things out especially the UI, at launch or maybe the 'act 1' is just meant to be basic, something that can be got through in 30 minutes before the actual game gets going, just something a little more than a tutorial level for the arpg uninitiated I wouldn't bet on any of those though, corporations like blizzard seem to have a hangup about selling a game that cannot be easily completed by a blind &* zonked one-armed cripple, so the odds of the final edition challenging an experienced gamer even a half arsed old dingbat like me are negligible imo.

wtf is this even about? tried to read it but damn boy, lol.
Played a bit more and... this reminds me somehow... very vaguely(!) of Guild Wars 2.
• feels like a 'single player MMO'
• world dynamic events that everyone in the area will participate
• transmog skins are stored / saved on item salvage
• dodge ability is useful / changing combat dynamic
• using skills for different builds feels... familiar
• playing as rogue feels a bit like playing a zerker guardian in GW2
There ARE Diablo specifics that you can recognize, but some bits and pieces come from... other... games / systems.
Interdasting.
A shame these greedy bastards raised the price to 70 Euro...
I did NOT expect to see this in a Blizzard game in today's... age.
Spoiler:
A woman / wife asks you to find her husband.
She says she saw him in the forest with another woman.
The wife comes with you as companion to search for the two.
You find them in the forest.
The man is alive, tied up in chains, with NO SKIN on him, only bloody meat everywhere, speaking about pleasures he has received and starts asking for even MORE MORE MORE pleasures.
The woman runs.
You find her.
She's a succubus-like demon.
You have sex with her.
She dies.
You return to the wife and flesh man.
She leaves and tells you to pull the dagger from her husband's chest.
You pull the dagger.
Blood spills without stopping.
Man stays alive with blood gushing out.
Quest completed.
And another thing: when you press PRINT SCRN, the CHAINS...

so sad that this shit genre still exists and is flourishing while games like Ultima 7 (adventure/sim/puzzle/RPG) just perished from the face of the earth.

BY WHICH THE MAN IS TIED
... ARE MOVING / WIGGLING.
Wtf!
Sounds like a cut quest from Diablo 1
From all the leaks it seems D4 will indeed be "a return to darkness"

Other claims in the article include an allegation that creative director Sebastian Stępień, who was creative director on The Witcher 3 and head writer on Cyberpunk 2077, rewrote the game’s script when he joined the team in 2019, adding “disturbing” sub-plots about sexual assault.
According to the article, one version of this script was referred to as the “rape version”, because it repeatedly referred to the rape of one of the game’s female love interest, and referred to her as “the raped woman” in her character description.
Employees reportedly had to plead with Blizzard leadership to change Stępień’s version of the story, and would reportedly repeat a line from the script, “and then she was raped, brutally”, out loud to each other in disbelief.
One former employee told the Post: “Rape has no place in the Diablo universe. It’s not a thing that we should be tackling because it takes a certain amount of nuance and a deft hand.”
