RTX 4090 user: finally, I can run this game properly!
Scam Citizen: u wot m8?!
??? what the hell is this garbage? looks no better than NMS and seems to run 50x worse considering the time, money, tech, this should basically look like real life. Not impressed with lighting, art or anything.

I doesn't help either that this is yet another gameplay video, of no real gameplay. Most the videos I see other than the ones the company puts out is players only running/flying around and showing off the GUI elements and visuals...no actual game elements gameplay.

It's a shame that there aren't practically any modern space games that combine Newtonian physics with a proper story mode, exploration and an immersive cockpit view - which is what the elusive Squadron 42 farce should have been
We jump from Elite Dangerous' spacetruck formula to arcade titles such as Everspace 2, Rebel Galaxy Outlaw and the like, with a black hole sitting in the middle of the gaming galaxy. There are also the low-budget Evochron, Starpoint Gemini 2 and the good ol' janky X-Series with its nice depth, all fun titles in their own way, but they offer different types of experiences that can't quite tick the aforementioned boxes.

Here is a video showing the current event going on in the game, Jumptown. It is a space and ground mission where your team tries to control a drug lab and sell the drugs for a big profit as either lawful to the cops to destroy or make even more money by being a criminal and sell to the drug dealers. It's a long video so you can jump around to see some of the different elements of the event.
Some things looks fun, i liked this 1 year old video more:
The tank drop (18:40 mins in) was cool, like having physics of the characters, tumbling around in there. Combat looks more fun than in something like NMS..
On one hand you have some shit like leaves falling and blanket folding being priorities and on the other, no atmosphere in that tank entry, no heat on entry, no trajectory, you can just fall on planet, nothing happens. Newtonian physics would also affect guns, especially the ones using gaseous release, bullet speed and trajectory. But hey, you have falling leaves and fully functional ships because "realism".

when entering the atmosphere there was at least something happening to physics, but sure, would be cool if that stuff was even more detailed.
falling leaves isnt something which would take time to create, pretty normal to see in most modern games. hell i even did that for trees in Morrowind for my West Gash mod, 10+ years ago, hardly something super complex at all, done in a day or two. leaves staying on the ground and piling up would be considered complex..
The leaves didn't even drop from the tree. I mean the trees still seemed to have same number of leaves. And the piles of leaves also looked pre-drawn and not made by the leaves. So yes, that shouldn't have taken more than 2 days of coding and drawing.
But real physics are something much harder to do. And to do it without too many bugs. Even today GTAV still has tons of glitches and bugs related to the physics and it's not that complicated.
Star Citizen developer Cloud Imperium Games is still struggling with game maintenance after the release of its latest update.
That update makes steps towards the game's ideal of full in-game persistence, with the addition of Persistent Entity Streaming tech now implemented in Alpha 3.18. It means objects can be dynamically tracked when moved by players.
However, the update has attracted enough players back to the game that login and server issues have become a major problem for the developer.
When we introduced our supporter programme about a year-and-a-half ago, we knew it might take some time to get right. That's why we refreshed the offering several months ago and why we're doing it again, today. For those of you who have been on the journey with us, thank you - your support really means a lot to us.
The biggest change is we're lowering the price and simplifying it. So whereas there used to be two tiers, priced £3.99 and £5.99, now there's only one. And for the new price of £2.99/$2.99 a month, or £29.99/$29.99 a year, you get everything that's included and it's as simple as that.
Note that if you're already a supporter and you've paid for an annual membership, you'll be refunded the difference depending on how long your subscription has left to run.
What's included in the supporter programme is evolving slightly, but don't worry, there's now more rather than less. And rest assured that our bread-and-butter Eurogamer offering - the games coverage we hope brought you here in the first place - will continue unaffected, and we'll keep pushing it to make it as good as it can be.
So what do you get for £2.99 a month? Well, one of the main things has always been giving people a way to read Eurogamer without adverts, because we know you don't like them, so ad-free viewing remains a fundamental part of what the supporter programme is about. It's not going anywhere.
As per its maintenance reports, the game's platform is currently operational but has been given the status of Partial Outage owing to problems with its persistent universe and electronic access.
Earlier in the week, the game was taken offline so CIG could isolate and fix issues.
Myriad login issues remain unsolved, primarily errors with codes 19003 and 19004.
"While monitoring those issues, the team has been able to tune and make adjustments to the entitlement processing flow to ensure that a large portion of player attempts were still successful and able to make it into the PU," the developer wrote on 14th March.
"However, at a point in the early morning UTC, the environment entered into a state which would require a more disruptive recovery process."
Since the 12th March, the post continues, the "environment has been in the process of recovering from the slow / non-responsive state it was in". However, CIG advises that "while this recovery effort is in-progress, players will experience periods of extreme difficulty getting into the PU".
Over on reddit, fans have been reacting angrily to their inability to log in to the game.
The same is true on the game's official forum (thanks PC Gamer). One poster, named Admiral Grogan, questioned why the update was released on a Friday afternoon when many players would want to access the game over the weekend.
"This is embarrassingly bad, even by Star Citizen standards. I've been a backer since day one. I'm not going anywhere. But after all this time we don't have our **** together to release a mess like this? Yeah yeah its an alpha, blah blah blah - the issue I have is - after this many years - why are these same problems happening every single patch?" reads the post.
In a tweet, the developer did apologise for the "super rough start", adding: "our team is all hands on deck working to get things running smoothly as quickly as possible. We'll keep you updated!"
It's currently unclear when the login issues will finally be resolved.
Thanks for the money, dummies

Reading that quote you posted was confusing since half of it is about Eurogamer now charging $3 a month to read ad free.
I keep an eye on it, just incase it has even a whiff of a chance of pulling its head out of its ass.
And I still dont see any gameplay worth a game.
I mentioned it before, most videos are of wandering around in a visually stunning backdrop. The gameplay is 95% 'ohh shiny' stuff that could be a cutscene instead. Once the ohh and ahh of the filler eye candy of how you get to the mission is over, the FPS shooter part looks boilerplate 'control and clear' FPS 101 mechanics.
But hey! the last update they made sure to put emphasis on I can stack the fed-ex mission boxes together, so thats nice

You say it could be a cutscene, but that's likely because they've constructed events to be as good as a cutscene.
