There is just way too much nonsense happening on the screen at any given moment. Is that what is needed to keep people interested in the game? I guess the actual driving has taken a back seat.

Heat was $3 right before Unbound came out so that really makes those numbers kind of pointless as a comparison other than just saying Unbound has a small playerbase on Steam. It would be more interesting to see what Heat's numbers were before that $3 sale since I am sure it was probably pretty low at that point as well.
Well you could just open the steamdb link on the page and see that it never really dropped below 1k players in its lifetime, werehas Unbound has 720 now. Good game men.
I must be aging but seeing all these "fun effects" actually makes me want to grab the game.
