How is Denuvo still a thing with performance like this? |
This is very likely a bullshit video pretending there's more than it actually is. As far as i know, these cracks just bypass denuvo, not eliminate it completely, no ? So the performance should be the same, because there's no actual denuvoless version. Second, on the rare ocassions where actual valid comparisons could be made, denuvo eats a few cpu calls but its only evident on ancient cpus, where you're cpu limited. Meaning, you would have to use some 15 year old cpu and play at a low resolution with cutdown details to notice. You wont see it if you have a cpu from the last, i dont know, 8-9 years ?

Its also dependent on the game, there has been devs dropping it completely because it impacted the performance so badly for them. there's 459034503 pages about it. There's no One Truth about it affecting performance or not, it can affect it to 0.1% or it can affect it greatly, it depends on a lot of stuff, and not just hardware.

The specs are in the video clearly, what I would think your average PC gamer prolly has in their PC even these days, those steam hardware charts prolly tell some story what your average gamer runs these days?
If you go from 48 fps to 68 fps average from just removing Denuvo then that is massive, world of difference in making the game playable, cause 48 fps is just not that.
If it was 200 fps to 220 fps then obviously it wouldn't matter.

yup, this is not a 200 FPS game....
test it out yourself.. i'll install it later to see what fps i get, maybe i can compare to the reports of what people with 3090 are getting as average.. if i'm even 5 FPS above what most reports says people have i'd say denuvo gives absolute garbage performance.

How is that an excuse for some stupid DRM to halve the performance in already bad performing game? The average gamer prolly cant/wont afford to put thousands in modern GPUs and CPUs with thier absurd prices these days to make it even remotely playable. |
many people blame denuvo for the bad performance....until there is a latest version with denuvo vs denuvo removed to compare...u dont know who to blame really, could easily be the dev not optimising the game if u look at the system req
and there is always consoles
that video comparing the two...all denuvo crack is doing is bypasing it, so either the official game with latest patch has shitier performance than prelaunch version or idk

what im saying is i don't think the video is done in good faith, i think its bullshit with fake overlays to pretend theres this impact. Even the stats don't match, he has different loads on the gpu, which is nonsense. You're right, 48 to 68 would be a gigantic improvement, but i very much doubt it would be the case. I wouldnt look at these noname channels trying to stir shit. And we need more indepth testing to conclude anything. RE Village, as far as i remember, the culprit for those low performance vampire chicks or stutter whenever an enemy died was due to the additional layers of drm from Square, not denuvo itself.
Denuvo does have a performance penalty, but its cpu related and it doesnt manifest in a notable way on cpus from the last decade and you need to be completely cpu limited in a game for it to show. And again, the cracked game is still denuvo. So what are we testing ? We don't have a game with denuvo removed to compare it with

there was with ac origins if i remember correctly, cracker removed denuvo completly, there was improvements on old hardware but with modern cpus ingames was the same i think

Yeah, pretty doubtful about this video, I saw literally no reports of people claiming to get good/different performance from the legit version.
Since this is a bypass and not a straight-up removal, there should be no performance increase. If that's actually the case, good news, but this would be very weird (that, or a sign of a godawful Denuvo integration).
qqq is right, the slowdowns in RE:Village were specifically caused by Capcom's own DRM, it was stated in the NFO too.
Don't get me wrong, I don't doubt Denuvo is culprit for frame pace issues and affects 1%Low pretty badly, AC Origins proved it blatantly. Fuck this shit, really.

Denuvo has evolved and became more complex since the days of ac origins though, and that's coming from Empress themselves so it's a simple leap in logic to assume it has more of an effect on perf now than back then, also the fact that games are generally badly optimized as well as larger and more ambitious nowadays could excacrebate this issue.
I doubt this comparison video is fair or even real tbh but this DRM performance impact should be investigated again in an unbiased way in the future.

with origins it was not only denuvo but mostly the vm protect like capcom, also cpu performance evolved rather much since then

Yea there is a lot of confusion because plenty games come with multiple DRMs stacked, like Resident Evil Village which also had Capcom's DRM that would make the game stutter during certain animations and when it was eventually cracked and the Capcom DRM removed the stutters were gone.
But Denuvo has never been removed in any crack ever unless someone happened on to a dev .exe or something leaked.
Which also means if a game only has Denuvo as DRM, like Hogwart's Legacy (though it does have SteamStub but who cares about that) there won't be any performance differences when it is cracked because Denuvo is still running as usual, the authentication system is tricked but the checks still trigger.
I pasted the crack over my legit install and my system had the exact same CPU usage and usage spikes as without the crack while running through Hogsmeade.
That video would surprise nobody who had been following the Hogwart's Legacy PC community since launch given how many magical FPS fixes were found by people that only turned out to be placebo fixes because the person restarted the game or had a more complete shader cache or something.

Am i the only one who suffers from this abbysmal performance every 3-5 mins ?
When it reaches this kind of performance, the PC is on the brink to locking up the whole system !

Tempted to buy it just to test the performance vs crakl and then just refund.

Do not make a new save and try getdataback or similar software. Dont be surprised if the recivered save is corrupt though
