The actress is a lot nicer than the character she plays lol.
Yeah, if there's anything wrong with the characters, it's pretty much because of the writers, which is why I think it's weird when people also get mad at those actors who haven't done anything outside of acting out what was written.
It's a stuttering mess, as anticipated. Tried 30 minutes, will try some more on Friday before inevitably refunding.
not too bad here, infinitely better than elden rings release
also to continue the comparisons, it looks better than elden ring in many areas. not entirely sure what people are talking about when they say it looks bad, although i can understand the complaints about the heavy frame rate. only pushing 70-80 fps here with RT shadows off and FSR on quality.. and that is in 1080p. acceptable for me in any case but i can't imagine 4k frame rates.
game is pretty good, wish SE could drop the obnoxious pauses during cutscenes, it really slows down the pace. as for the bosses thus far, they seem infinitely more fair than elden ring.. i keep expecting the monsters and bosses here to just start going ham when they lose HP but they just don't cheese the player thank god.. at least not yet. their move sets are maybe a little weak but it's still been a reasonable challenge on hard, mostly due to not understanding dodge mechanics.
i'm still struggling to maintain a good combat grade, wondering if i should go mouse & keyboard instead of the dual sense but it's the first time i've actually had a game support adaptive triggers, i don't want to switch yet
can't say i agree with the ~50% reviews on steam but whatever i guess. either way SE dug their own grave with the price so i can't imagine this selling well.
For shits and giggles tried the demo on me lappy (5600H, 16GB, RTX3600, samsung 970 evo plus) with all RTX shit off and DLSS performance for a minute.
- Menu music is atrocious , I think I can see what they were aiming at but like this it turns out that it isn't one thing nor the other and suffers from that
- stutter stutter stutter stutter, Steam says 60fps but my eyes are still catching stutter.
I'll try fiddling with some settings on the weekend, but my only interest is to see how it runs on this laptop and if I can tame it to a smooth 60fps experience and thassssssit my nibbas

*edit* To be clear, I'm not talking about the demo, I "bought" the game.
"Bought" as in: I will refund it but I'm trying it
I read on reddit that the demo has better performance than the real game version, no idea if that's true though.
i got the game for free with my videocard, which is why i don't have an axe to grind
i think the first 2 hours are sadly the worst (gameplay wise), a few too many cutscenes and linear tutorial gameplay which is probably why they opted to add a gameplay demo - which has the opposite problem - it's too overwhelming
i can see people refunding thinking the whole game is final fantasy 13 all over again, at least the tutorial sections here are short and to the point.
if nothing else, they put a lot of thought into the combat here and the parkour is quite fun once you get a few abilities; both feel like they have a good amount of depth, i don't think i'll master either system too easily (seems like a huge upgrade for square enix overall). there's still a fair amount of collision jank in close quarters (and a few invisible walls, c'mon SE). the main characters ground movement feels rather sluggish for some reason, but i love her overly dramatic turning animations

Tried on my laptop. 3070ti, 16GB, 6900HX. At native res (1440) the average was 70. Dips in to the 50s a lot though, and there's stuttering. That's with a few things on low and DLSS set to balanced. I played through Plague Tale Requiem on the same laptop and averaged between 80 - 100fps.
If it was a decent game I'd try to get it smoother by testing various settings, but what's the point
I don't always agree with his points, or some of his latest shenanigans, but I gotta respect him for calling out steaming piles of shit when he sees them. No other "reviewers" (especially the ones on Youtube) have the balls to say it straight (I'm looking at you ACG et all).
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

Yeah but 4 videos from that plonker on the same page though... pls stop headshot

damn the learning curve goes up like crazy when you add another element, i've only just mastered earth after playing for 20 hours (pretty much a combo god with it now), now i'm back to getting confused after switching to fire but it's great.
it honestly feels like i'm playing phantom dust again, forspoken is great with its spell combat (well, a lot more polished and with a ton more air control than phantom dust).
i still hit a few tough fights on hard but there's never been any retarded movesets for the enemies designed specifically to fuck the player over like elden ring where you're forced to memorize everything (i.e awkward delayed swings and unstoppable multi-hit combos).
had my first crash after 20 hours of gameplay, but other than that i've experienced zero bugs other than a few collision mishaps where the game teleports you nearby if you do happen to get stuck.
i wouldn't pay full price for the game (wouldn't pay this much for any game) but this game is amazing if you enjoy strategic combat with a lot of abilities. i can see myself putting in as many hours as elden ring at this rate. i would even put in a positive review, but i'm not going to be shilling for denuvo and SE's shitty anti-consumer practices.
Not as completely horrid as one might think but honestly the game generally feels like a student project that somehow had a high budget
Combat is decent, map is huge but completely empty and without much meaningful detail, you won't even see more than half the map by the time you're done with the story unless you literally do every side thing, story is mediocre, the buildings/cities villages or whatever look worse than stuff in Oblivion
You get all these spells to play with but
Spoiler:
you'll only have them all unlocked pretty much by the end of the game. Which is plain stupid cause it gives the combat a lot more depth, squandered potential
Also for some reason they decided to
Spoiler:
give you a full hour of cutscenes/guided gameplay full of exposition AT THE 85% mark of the game, afterwards it's pretty much off to fight the final boss.
Also damn, I saw so many dips to 60-70 fps at 4k with a 4090(!) running at DLSS Performance(!)
The concept is good but they botched it. This isn't worth anyone's time unless these types of games are 100% your thing and you got nothing else to play right now.
But it would probably be better to just replay FFXV.

Holy shit.
What a badly optimized game.
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."
I am about 10 hours in and I am absolutely loving this game.
it looks great (with hdr) and plays like crackdown/infamous.
I like the characters too.
3080 | ps5 pro
Sin317-"im 31 years old and still surprised at how much shit comes out of my ass actually ..."
SteamDRM-"Call of Duty is the symbol of the true perfection in every aspect. Call of Duty games are like Mozart's/Beethoven's symphonies"
deadpoetic-"are you new to the cyberspace?"
KC also thinks Uncharted 4 is the best looking game ever right now or that Gears 1-3 are masterpiece class games. Forspoken looking great and having awesome characters is only natural
I bought a key prior to release and couldn't get into it. Yesterday I gave it another go and after the combat/parkour finally clicked I'm actually enjoying it and keep coming back for more. I'm in 12 hours and I'm farming the maps like in Far Cry games.
It has its flaws and there are many things which annoy me but overall for the 48 € it was a good buy. Wouldn't have spend more than that though.
