So, I decided to go with staff + magic something.
But I've googled and I only find trainers in the Order for this, so I think I'm gonna screw the Bandit Camp shit and go back to Harbour Town to join the Order after doing enough stuff.
Question 1 : Should I spend all my remaining learning points on Strength ? I keep getting pwnt, I'm level 4 and STR is 27.
Question 2 : Training weapons increases their damage, too ? Or just unlocks moves ?

I just started playing this game last night and I'm really enjoying it but I don't want to keep playing if I'm only going to continue fighting people in town, killing wolves, and giant spiders... is there lots of dungeons with zombies, skeletons, demons, and stuff like that or am I going to be killing wolves and cooking their meat the rest of the game?
need help with a quest,
Spoiler: | in harbor town? where I'm supposed to find that amulet that is hidden behind a picture, the guard let me in to look for it but cant find it anywhere, am i supposed to use a scroll/spell to allow me to see it? |
also, I got the high res (wall and stairs) texture pack but the instructions are iffy, anyone know where exactly I'm supposed to put these .ximg files?
I'm 5-6 hours in and lvl 5, I'm going the path of a volunteer mage and I'm part of the order now. is it too late to still learn open locks and pick pockets? since the don guys hate me now.

It's been so long since I played this, but is it a picture on the bottom floor, with a switch behind it, and there is a bookcase opposite it that moves after using the switch..?

Game will get really boring in later chapters, you will start fighting lizards, TONS of them. And cranky timing fighting mechanics will make every fight much longer than it should have been
If you choose to became Warrior of the Order, you will be able to cast ice spell, at higher levels it will freeze lizards for quite some time, giving you time to one-hit kill them one by one. This will save you from tedious fights with them.
Thief training --> There is a thief traineer at Monastery.

There are lots of dungeons. In fact, in second half of the game you'll be doing mostly dungeon crawling. There are zombies, skeletons and demons. There are also lizardmen which will show up in a majority of your fights in the last two chapters.

I'm unable to download the Risen ModStarter from http://www.worldofrisen.de/risen/download_70.htm (link at very bottom of page)
Is there another site? I've searched to no avail. Is the Risen modding scene dead? I got Risen recently from the humble bundle...

Latest patch that removes TAGES from RETAIL versions of the game (Steam version was cured from this virus a while ago).
I'm not sure where you can find version for other releases (as in English, german. etc). Somewhere there, I believe.

Good post. Will come back to this once I finish my Gothic 123 run.
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

Nice!
It worked pretty well on the Deck without proper gamepad support, but this will make it much better

Did they finally officialy fix the xp bug?
In vanilla Risen if you had 990/1000 xp and defeated a 200 xp monster you'd only get 10 xp, the rest would vanish. The unofficial patch fixes that, PB never cared.
If you were not careful it could cost you 1-2 max levels.

My bet is they never even bothered to read the list of changes from unofficial patch (let alone study its source code). Anyway, it should be trivial to check if changes from unofficial patch are included in the new update by testing, for example, these 2 fixes from unofficial patch:
- Fixed inability to use Woodcutter's axe and all self-forged weapons on the quickbar.
- Stone plate and Smith's hammer can no longer be used on quickbar.

it's very unfortunate how little developers cares... wasn't this the issue with witcher 3 remaster too, they didn't care to include the updates for the mods they included, they used outdated ones that had issues, lol...
i mean it takes a whole minute at least to check if there's an update or an issue that could be fixed perhaps (thousands, or in the case of TW3, millions of people would be thankful for that) but of course they don't have that much time, or care...
but maybe PB did care, i don't know but color me surprised if they gave 1 shit.

Any news of what they broke? My last playthrough with the mods listed above was pretty good. If they broke shit, those mods might not be updated since it's been so long
