Other than janky hitboxes in VR how is it on the quest? Thinking of buying it just to see the wife strangle baddies. She was so excited for the year 2 update and then it came out and of course the first in that arcade mode is the one she failed cause of babby. And was so upset that she didn't touch it for a few days. Now she's running amok being a silent assassin.
It runs well on quest 2 via airlink. Even tho the min req. is a 2060 for some reason I'm still running it well on an rx 580 8GB. Objects that are small or far can appear quite blurry but I heard that complaint from guys with 3090's.
If you can get past the jank and just wanna have a laugh fucking around in VR it can be fun. But if you want to play the game the way it was meant to be played as a hitman sim then VR isn't the way.
I finally got around to finishing the three of these. I stand by previous deleted comments that these new games are average at best.
Spoiler:
With the exception of three levels, the games are still too formulaic. Paint-by-the-numbers predictibility every time. Once, you had to be very careful about what you used and where. Now, with all of the overpowered mechanics and items at your disposal, you can breeze through any level with ease. It usually goes something like this:
Pack a lockpick and some lethal or non-lethal poison
Find the loud mouthed NPC who is loudly blurting out a way to easily eradicate the target. They're never hard to find (or hear)
Take their clothes
Put their naked body in the conveniently placed garbage bin / linen basket / wooden box nearby
Find target
Kill target using blurted out method
Pretend to yourself that the next level will be different
There was one mission, 'Death In The Family' (England) where I thought I was in for a treat. It had 'Beldingford Manor' vibes all over it. Nah. You can just walk by the gate, walk up every conveniently placed climbable surface leading to the house, reach the house, climb the building, and within a few minutes of the first playthrough the target is right there and dead soon after. 90% of the level is invalidated unless you want to do it all again to unlock all the things. The primary goal should always be how you get to your target, but for some reason the game never makes that a challenge.
The problem with a lot of this IMMMoo comes down to two things; predictibility and casual gamers. The latter doesn't really need to be touched on, it's why most games are streamlined like this now. The old method of designing levels around timers was far more satisfying than the levels now designed around you being present in area X, Y or Z. When you know where someone is going to be 100% of the time (because they won't appear or trigger a routine until you appear), it gets very stale. The world isn't living, breathing or moving forward. There's no sense of urgency. It's just a string of set pieces that trigger when you enter a door way so that you see everything. Because god forbid you miss something the first time around as the game encourages you to do each mission over and over.
If you take the polish away from the turd (the excessive crowds, the constant objective reminders, the shiny visuals, the scripted set pieces) then it's much easier to see how basic the level design is for each mission. For example - imagine the India mission without the crowds. What's left? What amazing memory does that level leave you with that you'll think back on in another 10 - 15 years? With Hitman 1, 2 and 3, they had to do more with less. Now most levels are made to look busy because 1,000 NPCs are walking in circles.
What gets me is how the unlocks, after 6 years, still revolve around earning them through certain mission requirements (AKA playing the same thing over and over). It's not enough to find the weapons in a level, or to get a 'Silent Assassin' rating, you must complete a level a billion times doing arbritrary shit until you get what you're after. And then... most things you unlock aren't unlocks at all, they're just reskins. Lockpick Mark I vs Mark II vs Mark III - there is no difference apart from the lockpick model. They don't work more quickly or have any other advantage. How many god damn 1911 reskins were there? At one point they filled up my entire sidearm screen.
Then there are the plethora of audio devices, proximity mines etc that are also the same. And if they're not the same, they're invalidated by the fact that throwing a brick / pole / crowbar / screwdriver (etc) is a far more robust and useful method of distracting enemies. IO should be so fucking ashamed of their entire weapon and item offering.
Now the best part - the online requirement. Every mission, without FAIL, I would get 'connecting' issues. The game just pauses, I'm thrown out of whatever I was doing and I get to stare at a 'connecting' box for 30 - 60 seconds. These guys are fucking geniuses to keep this online requirement after all this time, despite the fact it's the #1 complained about issue in almost every review.
In 2006 if you asked me to imagine what the Hitman of 2022 looked like, it would not be this. Certainly not after 3 new games in the series. I feel it needs a little more than Bateson and a bald headed protagonist to be 'Hitman'. Still can't dual wield, still no first person view, NPCs still won't fight back, you still can't modify weapons, still can't look through keyholes 'because it isn't realistic' (x-ray vision is, though?), AI is still fucking blind, dumb, loud and useless etc etc etc. At this point we should have all of these features and more.
It's good they're working on a 007 game, these classic Hitman + Absolution mish mashes are a waste of time and hardly ever evolve. They might actually make something really good when they're not trying to appease two audiences that are the polar opposite of one another.

Great sum up.
The only thing I'd add is that by Hitman 3 I was completely sick the new style of Hitman and how flawed it was, I just wanted to finish it and be done with it.
I managed to become even more disappointed with Hitman 3 as I was able to complete the entire game on professional skill level very quickly and easily using a simple trick...
You run to the location of the person you have to kill, go to a corner of the room, shoot them in the head with your gun and then run through two empty rooms and hide in a closest or similar.
You will never get caught, you can then continue on and kill the next target without issues.
In my opinion Blood Money was at least similar if not better in terms of at least having some general level of suspicion...
So which one to get out of these? The naming is so confusing, and then there's the DLC''s, unlocks (play the old games in the new engines or whatever?).. Seems like you have to research for days if you are unfamiliar with this franchise.
Tried reading up on which is the best on reddit.. impossible know what the hell they're talking about since for example there are 2 Hitman 2.
I have one Hitman game called just Hitman, released in 2016. Any good? Probably bought on a sale.
If it's all mostly just linear and 1 way to solve shit i have zero interest though.
"HITMAN World of Assassination" is the one to get later this month i guess.. makes it possible to play all (3) games with whatever Hitman 3 brought to the table it seems.
Edit: late on the ball.
Edit: so if its a free upgrade for Hitman 3 owners i guess buying Hitman 3 for 20 euro right now is a decent deal...
lol.. the series has a guide for how to buy the game(s)... this is such a mess
The IOI folks truly adore their silly online requirements engineered to maximize artificial grind, haha. Anyway, I promised myself that I'd only buy this one for a dollar(tm) and well, I had enough spare pesos from all the Gabecards to make that happen. I quite enjoyed the nuHitman trilogy despite its gimping and the questionable designs, and with S03 soon turning into the complete thing, stonks 📈 I guess.

This is what I was thinking...Hitman 3 for 20€ or would it be worth it to get the Deluxe for 31.5? Didnt find if you would get the H:WOA Deluxe Pack
HITMAN – World of Assassination Deluxe Pack (approx. $30 USD or local equivalent)
Includes: H3 Deluxe Pack, H3 Seven Deadly Sins Collection and H2 Expansion Access Pass.
not sure if its worth it to get H3 standard now .... (when i already have H1+H2 + their access passes) or wait for the World of Ass to be implemented with "complete the set " bundle
that physics thing set to "best" in the benchmark is cool. is it even used in the game though or just something fun for the benchmark? lowest FPS was 8, with my 3090 :/

I think purchasing it now will be cheaper. With Unca Erdogan discount it's 5 EUR now. HITMAN WoA will probably be considerably higher.

Especially if they keep re-adjusting the prices like some publishers already did.

It's a mess, but really not that complicated. They could've handled it better though that if you own HITMAN 1 / 2 on Steam, you should automatically get the unlocker DLC for HITMAN 3 (it's possible).
Coming to just to find Mr. Bean peeking out from beneath the operating mask as your surgeon would be friggin' terrifying!
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.
