What a curious toy. Got Beatsaber free to redeem which was a very pleasant surprise.

No nausea so far, quality seems good, menus are intuitive enough.

Next up, Alyx when it's on sale obviously.

I need to start airlink or virtual desktop, then steam vr and then the game? Laughing

I bought it after reading some reviews. Might try later. There's also a Quest 2 version, but obviously the graphics will be ass in comparison.

Nice, enjoy! It's a hardcore survival game with a story/campaign. One of the few survival games I actually really liked.

nah, refunded. took me like 30 minutes to create a camp fire, then to lit the camp fire seems to be another 10+ minutes. graphics are decent but there's so much switching in the environment from low-poly to the fully rendered model. forgotten how much i hate these games, only NMS is good imo, Subnautica was decent too, will try that one in VR again.

Yeah I understand what you mean, it's rare to get these kind of games with an actual story and the VR implementation to the flat game is fantastic. There are rumors about adding coop in the future. But yeah definitely not for everybody I usually hate survival games but this one stood up.

Know I said it elsewhere, and not VR related itself, but I am playing it now with a friend and totally the exact opposite. If it didn't have sandbox I wouldn't have made it an hour. I didnt even finish the tutorial for all the 'stand here unable to skip or interact with anything while he and her talk' stuff.
Started tutorial, got lots of dialog subtitles, chatter and exposition and quit it and and went "Is there a drop me in the woods to figure it out mode?"
Took me 30 minutes to realize I had a compass, how to get water was another 15, and accidently figured out how to make an axe. For me 100x more fun than dialog about characters with some gameplay inbetween. Razz

It's the old conflict: "story-free sandbox to play with friends" vs "lore/story-driven to play alone", two completely opposite gaming universes that have been clashing against each other since the early days Very Happy

I strictly belong to the latter, but Green Hell indeed includes both modes which is the best way to satisfy everyone. I had a genuinely good time with it (in puny 2D) despite some questionable design decisions, and the writing felt surprisingly engrossing for a hardcore-ish survival game.

Tried this yesterday, quite cool (never played the original). oh, and unlike many mods this works with the controllers.

I also decided to support LukeRoss on Patreon. Tons of VR mods, gonna try Stray next.

No co-op I can see. But its pretty good, the raytrace Portal was underwhelming to me barely could tell a difference. But VR is nice (two different things, just mention VR is way more experience changing than adding RT was).

One thing I will forewarn you about if you are the type to get motion sickness at all in VR go in expecting it might happen.
I was fine in it, but my daughter got light headed and dizzy anytime the camera moved without her controlling it to make it do it. And it does that a lot in the game, and the reorientation going through portals not on the same plane really fucked with her.

Getting mine today, i'll do a small review after i've tried it and compared it (kept my Quest 2 for now so i could compare the two).

There are some decent reviews out, but many times you can tell it's like they're reading from a script from Meta, they word it just the same. I've watched like 15 reviews this morning and one of the more laughable praises has been how loud it its Rolling Eyes loudness is not an indication of audio quality in any way lol, was anyone really thinking that quest 2 was too quiet (its not).

I once had a Quest and an Oculus account
then they forced me to turn that into a Facebook account after previously promising to never do that
so I named the account Fck Facebook to vent my dissatisfaction
after which they proceeded to delete my entire account with everything I had bought on it

there wasn't that much on it, but still
I'm never purchasing anything associated with them again

fuck facebook
fuck meta
fuck zuck

you don't need facebook account any longer with them though, guess it had too much of a backlash for them.

Well, The FOV is better, for Q2 it was bothering me because it was like looking through a hole, it irritated me from the start. Now it's less of an issue, the view is much more oval than round which to me is a lot more pleasing.

The shills saying the screen is more vibrant etc, that's total BS. The colors are 100% the same, black levels the same (garbage), it feels 100% like the same screen for me apart from the bump in resolution and FOV. I quickly switched between Q2 and Q3 in the same game to check for differences.

The Mixed Reality game that comes with it is of course very gimmicky. But it was really cool to see how it behaved, how it could map the room and then things can break through a window or a wall and be on the sofa. The quality of the camera feed is not particularly great, but it also depends completely on the lighting. I could not turn on my ceiling lights because then there was unbearable flickering. I can use my phone and use the computer with the headset on, which is nice sometimes, because there can be a lot of taking off/on with VR when you need to fiddle with something.

Controllers, they feel the same, the buttons are less clicky which is nice. Lots of shills saying they're like amazeballs in comparison, again, lies.

If they're going in this direction Q4 is going to be great and worth waiting for instead of purchasing this one. Of course, if you're super hungry for VR then just purchase right away, if not, wait for Q4 instead because i bet then you'll have a truly great screen, probably OLED, which will make huge difference. If they can bump the FOV by 20 again it would be great, but 10 would do...

The default strap is still terrible if you ask me and you cannot wear this for more than 20min at best.
To me, the best strap is still PSVR1 which is so light.. The difference is amazing. PSVR2 isn't as confortable either but it's still better than Quest 3...
