1.4 TSI had major issues with timing chains
apparently a subcontractor made the timing chains using faulty tools
and they were prone to breaking

afaik they replaced timing chains on all affected cars

also there was a 1.4 bi-turbo (turbo+charge) that had major issues with engine oil burning
due to faulty oil piston rings
that specific bi-turbo engine variant is no longer in production Laughing

@SpykeZ: congrats! Welcome to the VW club Very Happy
My Polo has been really solid so far - apart from the initial safety recall for the loose handbrake that nearly caused me to wreck the car after one week Laughing

Decided to change my ride after 5 years (Honda Fit) and bit the bullet on a new VW, and one week later:

left the car parked outside the apartment of some girl I was seeing, only to wake up and see it like this. Some drunken fucker just hit and ran

Sad Laughing

So far I like this one a lot, the engine is quite snappy and very comfortable to drive. My only gripe so far is that the air conditioner is quite weak

Definitely! It's soo simple, I don't get it why other brands don't upgrade their cheaper cars with this. I mean LED are suuuper cheap and the logic to create such animations fits on the simplest boards.

Heh, to tell you the thruth, the lass wasn't even worth my trouble Laughing but shit happens anyway... Sadly it's stuck on servicing now waiting for some of the replacement parts, and since it broke the parking assist sensors on the bumper VW didn't seem to had a replacement with them (go figure)

So I'm doing some research into my new Polo

I was having some wtf moments while quick shifting..
and there is so much crap introduced by car makers, to appeal to noob drivers Mad

rev hang (for emissions)
clutch line constriction
clutch delay valve

and probably much more.. Rolling Eyes

it sucks to take a car from a manufacturer, to put in the shop just to remove all the fucking crap they put in it to make it more "user friendly"

When I see that Jag I think Audi R8.
