What were they trying to do with combat in this game? Give the player godmode powers by pressing left or right? Awesome QTE like cinematic combat? its certainly a dumb down but i don't understand what they were trying to do with it.

Haha yeah, I've been watching some tubefootage as well and indeed it seems like the game doesn't actually know how to deal with its own rudimentary mechanics. Perhaps it would have been better to just go the 100% Dead Space route and focus entirely on the shooting alongside basic puzzles/physics manipulation. The very limited exploration probably doesn't help either, and that's a shame.

/sigh... you can redeem yourself and REFUND the shit out of it. At least until it gets fixed...

Even if they optimize, the gameplay is the main issue with the game. It's just unfun to play, mediocre at best. Outside the visuals, there's nothing good about the title.

I'm having fun with it. Digging the setting and atmosphere, even if the story and characters are meh.
Also people keep talking about the melee combat but there are a bunch of firearms and plenty of ammo after the first hour or so. Rarely even use the baton anymore Laughing Riot gun ftw.
Oh and also the gravity glove thingy.

With the last patch this turd at least runs very smooth now. RT still near unplayable levels of performance. They basically threw away all the potential profit from the entire platform by releasing it as they did when it took them HOURS to fix most of the day one issues and another 4 days to fix the rest.

Had they released the game today, instead of 5 days ago, everyone would have been talking how the graphics are some of the best currently available and how atmospheric the game is. For a few hours at least, after it would have been how shit, bland and boring the game is

The performance was always the fixable problem. But most of the elements comprising this game are absolute trash.

I see now what people meant. The last chapters are pretty bad, with lame boss fights Sad I was enjoying the first 75% of the game.

You didn't notice:
- the linear design with doors closing behind you and preventing even the little exploration available
- the extreme padding from tunnel crawling and gap squeezing
- the gameplay loop revolving on moving batteries from one room to the next and pressing buttons
- the lack of fear inducing elements
- the poor usage of all the tropes in the books
- the terrible camera and fov
- the stupid QTE-like combat with a locked camera that prevents you from properly engaging multiple enemies or moving around
- the reusage of boring monsters
- the slow menus
- the poor performance
- the forgettable writing
- the save system that seems to retain data in a random fashion
etc

Until the lame boss fights in the final chapters? Laughing Laughing

Btw nothing wrong with linear game design imo. Performance was fine for me after update and not sure what about the menus was slow...

I agree, there's nothing wrong with a game being linear if it's done right. If you constantly have to question if taking the left or right route or going through a door will prevent you from further exploring the level, then it's not done right.

I'm thinking if they're gonna make it linear then they better make sure it stays original at the very least

Those are the worst, limiting you so much at times you can't do shit. And the checkpoints are extremely frustrating at times, specially when you collected lot of crap to sell, but there is no checkpoint close to the vending machine. Sell crap, buy upgrades, go next room die because of the stupid limitations. Load to realize you need to sell your crap and buy upgrades again, because the stupid game didn't save the storage and upgrades changes...

No one is commenting on coincidental release dates of two fairly similar games especially as lead designer is ex EA. I swear EA is packing community HD texture packs into an old game just to take away from CP (Calisto Protocol) sales.

pretty hilarious, so it has online connectivity so that they can check if you are playing it correctly, if not they're gonna take actions against you. Glad i never bought, not really into supporting fascism.

Yeah, you start seeing those ridiculous disclaimers popping left and right..
You find those exact same terms in PUBG's terms and conditions, it seems to be the legal conditions for everything published under PUBG Corp (what a name Laughing)/owned by Krafton.

It appears this all had rather ill after-effects for them, but I doubt it'll be much of a deterrent for others to come.. Such absurd terms and conditions could grab the interest of a couple EU legislators at some point though.. Very Happy

Welcome to a couple pages back. Apparently, might have been the reatrded publisher that ctrl-c ctrl-v'ed the terms from pubg.

Still pretty retarded/lazy.
