From Nintendo and Illumination comes a new animated film based on the world of Super Mario Bros.
Directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic (collaborators on Teen Titans Go!, Teen Titans Go! To the Movies) from a screenplay by Matthew Fogel (The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part, Minions: The Rise of Gru), the film stars Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong, Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek and Sebastian Maniscalco as Spike.
The film is produced by Illumination founder and CEO Chris Meledandri and by Shigeru Miyamoto for Nintendo. The film will be co-financed by Universal Pictures and Nintendo and released worldwide by Universal Pictures.
This is gonna be a huge cash cow, Nintendo finally gave in. If this comes out for Christmas (guess not, but it's a loss for them) it'd be the one holiday blockbuster for all families to watch.

why can't they make unique animation movies. everything looks and feels the same.
sure there is mario and bowser and everyone we knew and love from back then, still it doesn't feel right. this weird humor, like in the minions, i don't know how to describe it.
Yeah, this is a product designed for mass consumption, it might be relatively charming for fans and whatnot and I'll probably watch it at some point out of sheer curiosity, but it's definitely targeted at kids/teenagers, it should be taken as such.
As for the "humor".. yeah I totally get your feeling, it feels like the same ropes are constantly used. The same actors being used doesn't help with the monotony and the lines delivery feels samey between a lot of them. I think that might have to do with us also consuming a lot of humoristic media left and right as well.. basically, most jokes/comic postures have been done over and over again, and we might just be catching on to that

It's looking... fine? Pretty run-of-the-mill jokes, but looks decent overall
Ditto for me. Animation looks well done. But the jokes and humor is run of the mill style of what is hot and trendy, in forgettable Hollywood releases as of late.
Same old drab, not funny: Setup scene expectation, awkward result, music/sound stops and another character spits a one liner 'zinger' as a closer.
The whole trailer is that. Down to the final "Wahhoo!" Watch it and pay attention for it. EVERY scene is music going...dun dun dun dun DUN DUN DUN DUNDUNDUNDUN (music stops) snappy one liner.
Not sure why that trailer trope annoys the hell out of me. Maybe because it's so overused its cliche? not sure.
This feels as another case of: What is the madlib formula for movie trends at the moment? Write a story filling in that mad libs with the right noun, scene, verb, and story arc, so we are still using that mad libs page as the basis to ensure conformity to the 'magic formula' of safe bet movies.
Will be enjoyable to watch I think despite the cookie cutter trailer. But don't expect it to turn into any instant classic type thing. It will be another successful yet forgettable 'blend in with the rest' type movie.

really? i suspect most people could do a similar impression, i certainly can, not exactly the most difficult voice to mimic.
I would be terrible at doing gollum or yoda, mario is very easy.
Well I thought the interview was too long whereas the zero-content dumbfuck reactionary asshole focussed on the specifics in a shorter video that I thought people would be more likely to appreciate but I should know by now you can’t please everyone or rather there’s just no pleasing some people.
Anyway here is longer video when Ozzy Man got to meet and interview Chris Pratt and Charlie Day
