I wonderd why the dvdrips are only 700mb or 1.4gig (2 files).
Nowadays we can download a lot faster so in my opninion they can rip a dvd to 3 or 4 files. Why? because we can join files together, and the quality is far more better. Especially if we watch it on the new lcd tv's!
does anyone agree?

I think actual dvdr's are better quality as most dvd rips are svcd or xvid or something right?
also, they take out all the irrelevant shit on dvds like menu's, extras, language select, audio commentaries etc
I myself prefer the full dvd...menu's and extras and shit. Waste of space some may say, but I dunno, thats the way i like to do things.
Just like really good videogames...I like to buy them so I can have the book, inserts and the case on my shelf you know? Not just a stack of burned dvds/cds

Has to do with the encoding, smaller is still better.

why is smaller still better?
there is a substantial difference in quality between 700 mb and 1.4 gig.
And why do they still use 700mb size? because we can burn them now on dvd.
In my opinion they could rip a dvd in 2.1 gig (3 times 700 mb) so you can still burn 2 movies on 1 dvd.

Most of the world has upload limits. Doesn't matter what your download limit is, hard to share if you can only upload at 45k.

really, there might be a slight quallity difference size wise. but, 700mb rips have vbr 128 mp3 audio which can be anywhere between 80 and 110mb which takes up around 14% (give or take) of the actually size of the target (700mb). when you see a 1.4gb rip it will more than likely have ac3 audio which, depending on length can be 300-500mb... so it allmost works itself out - little more quallity on a 2cd rip (depending on length) than on a regular 700mb rip. but its all based on the tdx rip rules.
maybe that helped?

the 1cd/2cd involve scene rules based on the length of the movie.

I know there are "rules". But these rules are not "laws". These rules should be based on QUALITY. And as I mentioned, more and more ppl have broadband now to down- and UPLOAD.
