Project CARS 4 will be using Madness 2.0 Engine, aims to be the most realistic simulation ever
Quote: | In a series of tweets (that have now been deleted) Ian Bell, CEO of Slightly Mad Studios, revealed the first details about Project CARS 4. According to Ian, Project CARS 4 will be using the Madness 2.0 Engine, and promises to be the most realistic simulation ever.
Ian claimed that every leaf will shadow every other leaf in Project CARS 4. As such, we can assume that Project CARS 4 will be using real-time Ray Tracing for shadows. In addition, the game promises to be the most realistic simulation ever, in every way. Yeap, that’s Ian overhyping the game but he at least states that PC4 will return to its simulation roots. |

Project Cars 2 made Project Cars 1 obsolete. It's basically the same game, overall improved. And Project Cars 3 made Slightly Mad obsolete for anyone looking for a good sim developer.

The mighty Ian Bellend has spoken again
He's also removed all the delirious tweets in the meantime, but then again that's the way the Todd of the driving world operates.
"Project Cars" 3 was such a complete failure, an absolutely ridiculous downgrade from the competent PC2 in every possible way, it managed to disappoint both the long-time fans and the casual audience (sitting at 1/10 of PC2's users overall), hell, even journos disliked it.
Project Cars 4 is essentially their last chance to redeem themselves, they'll obligatorily have to put more effort into it in order to stay afloat as a company. As for the ultimate simiest sim claims though, well that's another story. It will probably go back to being what it was, but don't quite see it challenging rFactor 2, Automobilista 2 or ACC in the physics department since it will still be a multi-platform release aimed at a broader audience. I'm always open to positive surprises, though.

i dont think they have time to do that ...they are part of codies now and whether EA or 2K buys them in the end both SM and Codies will change for the worse before PCars4 becomes even playable

Indeed, as long as they have no creative freedom the chances of it being good are ultimately very slim. It's difficult to release something worse than PC3, but with the greedy giants involved there's always room for more negativity. Mandatory ongoing live online services, microboxes of shame, additional arcade bunga bunga, cringe-worthy "story" modes with #yolo characters, you name it

Its EA now (more than likely)...and its a sports game, of course they are.
Like FIFA, NBA and NFL..etc
We will have:
Project Cars 2k20
Project Cars 2k21
Project Cars 2k22
...and so on.
With little to no changes to the actual gameplay. Just car wrap updates, race suit design updates, and names added and removed to reflect whatever is current and will cost full game release prices.
What I really want for a racing sim is an iracing like game that doesn't cost $4000 to progress thru the race types you like in all the licenses for car and tracks. I really enjoy iracing, but fuuuuck me I had to stop spending money every..damn...week to keep driving the season I was in because a track came up I didn't have.
(But that's a different overall general racing sim topic)

What you mean by gameplay ? PC2 physics are oversimplified compared to the first. What's the point of having more cars if they drive like shit

I drove both with my fanatec and I wouldn't say that PCars 1 felt more realistic.

For what it's worth, if you haven't tried it already I'd suggest grabbing a custom FFB profile for PC2, it's a pretty substantial improvement over the feeble vanilla "feedback". Sadly since my old Logiderp DF died last year I'm stuck again with the peasant pad, but it definitely did help to make the cars feel more alive.

Another thing that I always do is play around with the front/rear toe-in-angle values in the setup in order to increase drag and fix the excessive oversteering that quite a few classes seem to display. The game does have more than decent physics under the hood (for the most part ), it just requires additional work with the FFB and wonky default setups.

No, because pCars 3 was such a good game, we’d all have bought 4 if EA had released it!!!111
3 was so bad, they probably sold very little compared to the previous two, so EA just saw the trend. Retardmasters are just incapable of making a good game anymore, and most of the good talent left after Dumbomasters acquired Sellout Mad Studios.

Haha damn, it's not surprising after the takeover and prolonged silence but still, such a valuable simulative franchise didn't deserve to end on such a tragic note with the embarrassing Proj3ct D3rps. What a rotten way to die.
The GRID franchise (or whatever the hell it is these days) also has very underwhelming numbers, either they're thinking about axing that one too or they'll re-re-reboot it hoping for a different outcome . The awesome-button-powered N€€D 4 $p€€d titles will obviously stay, alongside the yearly F1 and the upcoming WRC ones that will replace the Dirt Rally series. May Samir watch over us.
Thankfully there's Automobilista 2 which has grown to be a competent alternative, ACC is solid for what it is and the good old Assetto Corsa is still receiving enhancements on a regular basis (after adding rain, nighttime and better AI, the mandatory Custom Shaders Patch now even supports 3D trees )
