No need to challenge the 4090 performance wise, jut try to get close and do it price wise. But just like back in 2020, it's doubtful that that will happen Sad

Not a bad offering all things considered, though as always it's early to tell - especially the actual RT performance and Genderfluid FSR 3 + Hyper Reflex-like thing which will be out next year. The more acceptable prices (for today's absurd standards, that is) make it appetible for me on paper, I guess we'll have to see how it compares to the 4080, nu4080 and so forth.

It seems like they may get price/performance right but their FPS graphs didn’t really convince me. I‘m going to wait for some tests until judging these cards.

Yeah, the 7900XTX should have been a 7900XT and the 7900XT a 7800XT for 650€, then a 7800 for 550€ etc.

I only have a 6900XT because thats the only thing I could get my hands on in August 2021. I'm not shelling 1000€ again.

@couleur
Same I could want a new GPU, I got the 6800XT, and its more than I need usually for 120hz 3440x1440. But PC parts and games, and garage/shop tools are literally my only expendable cash expense. So I usually keep up to date with current gen.
But $1000 a year ago, and $1000 again this year is too much for me to justify.

And can they (all of them not just AMD) just stop with the obtuse naming? Are we going to get the stuff like this?:
7900XTX
7900XT
7900
7950X-TX-S
7800XT-XTRA
7800
7750

Label your stuff logically and stop trying to obfuscate where in the tier list stuff is. I dont want to have to use google and a slide ruler to figure out things like if your 7850TRIPLE X-TX is better than the 7900XT-XLITE edition, or whatever name they give them.

Go back to the old names, plan ahead for your chip tiers and make it simple: 7900, 7800, 7600, 7500, 7400, etc. We dont need random Ti, iT, XTX, XT, [nothing], and random xx50 named things tossed in mid gen.
Or worse like the 1660. 1660, then the 2080, but the 1080 is better than the 1660 that came after it even though its higher number.

I usually update when I can get double the performance for a realistic price.

I went from 7950 -> 290X -> Vega64 -> 6900XT.

I usually buy when people sell their old cards. The Vega64 I got for 380€ and that was my most expensive card at the time. When I upgraded my Screen to 3440x1440, I wanted more performance so I looked out to get a 6800XT. I sold my Vega 64 for about 400€ so I didn't have that bad a conscience buying the 6900XT instead since that was the only thing available to me at the time.

Now since the 7900XTXTXTXTX isn't nearly double the performance of the 6900XT, I'll gladly skip this generation and wait for the 8xxx series. Maybe a 8800XT can be at double the performance in about 2-3 years. Who knows. It will probably cost an arm and a leg.

I went 970->1080->1080ti->6800XT. The 2000 series didnt excite me much.

Id usually do 50% over that I have already is an upgrade. Or I notice something I like playing is having trouble with settings I like and had to turn them down a tad to get monitor matching fps. Usually its VR stuff I play that is the marker for deciding if the next gens gains, and price, are worth biting.
But I never get the top end of any gen so use to be cheaper to use the roughly 50% gain as my barrier for consideration. (other than 1080ti I had and thats because I got a really good deal, nearly stole it type price).

Well, that escalated quickly... So it's also a case with the cable (and NOT any kind of adapter) that comes with the PSU... And we're talking about a 1200W PSU PLATINUM, eh!..."More than enough"

Skipping the 40 series and staying with my GIGABYTE RTX 2070 Super for now..

Hopefully the 40 owners can get a refund if shit happens on theirs etc in it's due time...

why did amd wait so longto announce their pricepoint, if they had announced right after nvidia, a lot of people would have waited 7-8 weeks to save 600+ bucks

Doubtfull it would have been "a lot". Truth is, their conference was very underwhelming. Something probably went wrong somewhere. AMD leakers even apologized on twitter that all their leaks turned out to be bullshit and they dont know what happened either. Clocks were supposed to be near double what we actually got. Performance over 6900Xt more than double. Ray tracing half way between Ampere and 4090.

And we got worse and less of everything that was expected. Curious how the pricing ends up in europe for this.

lets see how much extra performance with extra 50 watts or so the partner cards can do. But the problem is, they only have 2 8 pin connecters to play with , so amd limited everyone for some reason Sad

Unless partners can add an extra connector ? has that ever happened before

Facepalm
Sparks now cause cables to meltdown. What's the speed of light in your dimension, BTW?

cable connectors yes, the plastic blackened pins many are showing, thats caused by sparking ... aka flames causing heat would be the logical explenation to me, dunno how the physix in ur world work

melted shit doesnt go black color, burned shit does id think
