What is it with that region developed games that are sooooooooo good on paper but then just come out as a bug fest. STALKER is still a crown jewel but man did that game start off rough.
I know it was made in Ukraine but same region, but remember Boiling Point? Open world FPS, sooooooooooooo much potential, absolute fucking bugfest.
Boiling Point was way ahead of its time. In many ways it's like a modern Far Cry game, but yeah. Bugs. So many bugs. None of the systems really worked well either, it felt like they spread themselves too thin.
This new game feels a bit iffy. It certainly looks the part, but that doesn't mean much anymore.

I can handle some bugs but it really comes down to the combat. If it feels floaty and like nothing you do is actually causing damage it's going to be a no from me. I don't expect the story to be so great because so far, they've revealed nothing about the world, or the story. Just some gameplay.
I remember when Bioshock was coming out, they had a whole thing about the world we were about to go into and that's what got us excited.
This looks like it COULD have a cool story atmosphere, but they haven't shown us anything other than 1 second snippets of what the guns and powers do.
“Shit would you look at that it’s that thing again” can't make this up.
Fucking hate when protagonists in games like these don't shut the fuck up. LET THE PLAYER say that to themselves, why do you have to add some shit ass, poorly acted dialogue. It's almost as bad as being forced to follow npcs, or have them tag along with you and bug you about going off the main path or not going fast enough. Just shut the fuck up and let me play.
I have a bad feeling about this game. Knowing it's difficult development (heck, when it was announced they didn't even have a game, just a tech demo) and the fact that they're self-publishing it makes me think that no big publisher thought the game was good enough to invest in.

They're not self publishing anymore. Focus picked them up, which is really one of the like, 2 publishers left that I like. Them and Coffee Stain.
That's the expensive editions though. Just regular pricing nowadays
even worse - there was no other edition available for purchase, at least i couldn't see it.
maybe a new trend coming, the game is from the start is called Premium Edition or Ultimate Edition or whatever with 2 skins so that the high price can be "justified".

I don't think Focus would have picked it up to publish if they felt it was vaporware.
I'm afraid that's indeed correct..when it comes to STALKER 2 we're talking about a Chimera, as painful as it can be. System Shock 3 and Vampire Bloodlines 2 belong to the list also, the latter however will likely still ship at some point - leaving us wishing it had never been revived in the first place. Oh, and the System Shock Remake Forever, though there's enough material to prove that it does exist (kind of)
