she got low offer so she wants players to boycott it?
Yup. Beloved voice actress, company made around half a billion from the games she voiced, offered $4000 (lol..) to voice for the third game.. she obviously said no, like anyone should. As for boycotting, i understand her point of view but in the end it's of course up to the buyer.
I think it's a little cheap (to say the least) to not do fans and the game itself a service and perhaps pay her a little more. If she wasn't well liked, if the series didn't sell that well, ok, understandable, maybe they can't spend over $4000 on the main voice, but it's not the case.
The developer appeared to be determined to rehire Taylor, according to two people familiar with the negotiations as well as documentation reviewed by Bloomberg. Here’s where their accounts differ: Platinum Games sought to hire Taylor for at least five sessions, each paying $3,000 to $4,000 for four hours in the studio, said the people, who asked not to be identified because they aren’t authorized to discuss private contract negotiations. That would make the total for the game at least $15,000.
In response, they said, Taylor asked for a six-figure sum as well as residuals on the game. Platinum declined and, following lengthy negotiations, took auditions for a new actor. Platinum later offered Taylor a cameo in the game for the fee of one session, which she turned down, the people said.
$15k is still nothing in the grand scheme of things
For my shitty little game, with no funding... I've paid some people at least a few thousand for their roles.
This is embarrassing considering the money they must make. IMO she should have taken the role for $4K (if it was 4K, who knows now) and then complained about it. Even if the complaints were indirect so as not to break any NDA rules. At least then she'd still be making money on appearances / signing stuff / invitations to gaming conventions.
...and her response is that it's totalt made-up bullshit, so yeah, there's really no way of knowing who's telling the truth.

Wow. While that is nice of you it does sound like you overpaid. I've worked on a few indie games, and i know people who does too and that sounds like a lot for voice work. But i'll admit i do not know any voice actors, just people who does graphics.
