This is 90% about restoring the missing (or reduced quality) effects of the PC version compared to the PS2, while also making it easy to apply some typical PC enhancements like high resolutions and widescreen, and 10% is about improving some artwork/images by AI upscaling them.
That's the scope of the project.
And dated or not, the game looks very playable. The same year Max Payne 1 came out, and this has way more complex character models, animations, and lighting and shadowing model among other things. (Of course Max Payne had kickass particles and destruction).
TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."
"Like Nothing On Earth"
well then this its more like an unoficial update/patch rather than a mod. i always wanted to play the olders games so i gave this one a try back when the first version was released and felt very dated. it wouldnt bother me so much if it wasnt for the sound and maybe some animations. ill give it another go if they can fix the sound
Is it full playable without bugz ? It's a long and complex game and if it's not polished then it's not worth playing it yet.
I played through it last year using one of the older versions of the Enhanced pack and everything already worked as intended, so I'd say you're good to go. Most of the recent fixes are relatively minor touches/improvements, still important though.
tried this and finished this time, it looks so much better than the first time i tried the mod. great game, did not expect this type of deep story, the atmosphere is there but melee combat didnt aged that good. really interesting how they did the endings based on how u play the game without u even noticing the choices, felt very natural, how come no game has copied this?
after finishing this now might as well try 3 and 4, they also have unnoficial fixes on rin, first game looks waaaaaay too old, only homecoming i finished back then and i did liked it. tried a littlee of downpour at launch but was kinda meh.
finished 3 and did not liked it as much as 2, waaaay too much action and gore, very different games, like if 2 is like the alien movie, more horror and psychological, 3 is like aliens, more action and gore. still good game, great main character, and some great graphics in some places like the main characters face puts many games to shame. didnt cared too much about the plot either, maybe when it launched it was a new thing but now i feel it was done too many times, in contrast to 2 where the plot still stands great. also, 2 enhanced edition looks much better than 3 with the fixes in many places.
Because game devs used to try new things and the whole medium was very open to experimentation.
Now it is copy & pasted code and reskinned assets, because investors like safe bets that worked before.
so like one of sh2 endings is suicide, so if you do not heal very fast upon taking damage apperently this adds to that ending, like the game would know you dont want to live, and if u do heal then game knows you do want so less chances of getting that ending. same with the maria character, if you check up on her or stay long with her the game will think you care for her adding to another ending.. its just a cool mechanic because you do it withouth thinking it instead of the game present you choices to go left or right...
anyway, lastly i tried sh4 the room and this one aged badly, interesting couse apparently was made alongside sh3 but by different team. clunky controlls, meh main character, gave up. glad i got the chance to play 2 and 3

I don't think an HD version is gonna benefit the game that much. The graphics of the original kinda helped with the horror by letting your imagination fill in the blanks.
Why can't they just make new games? Are we going to be reaching a point where by 2050 we will be seeing the 4th remake of Modern Warfare?
They announced three new games as well: an adventure from the Observation folks, some sort of social hybrid thing which will probably stink, and a "proper" full-Jap sequel called F (nome omen ). Oh, and another film while they were at it.
As for the inevitable Reboomake, Bloober's track record isn't exactly appealing to me but I guess only time will tell.
One of the new elements that you could spot in the reveal trailer is the adoption of an over-the-shoulder camera. With a new perspective, we’re rebuilding the combat system and certain set-pieces, among other things. Now that you see basically what James can see, we could find new ways to keep the player on edge.

Oh I didn't know they were making a new game. Just saw the trailer and I thought it was very creepy. So fingers crossed it's good.
Though given how it's set in Japan, they could have probably have just dropped the Silent Hill since I don't think its mythos is tied to Silent Hill anyway. Or they could have named it something like, "Name of the potential series/franchise because who are we kidding: A Silent Hill"
It already got "re-imagenation" for the Wii(Also PSP and PS2).
The highet of the series started in the 2nd game, it make sense they will focus on it.
It's not out of the question they will do second remake for the first game though.
Silent Hill works better as "separate" continuity than direct sequel.
well new players don't want to start on the second game.. or the 4th in the case of uncharted. I really don't understand doing a full remake of an iconic and classic game, but starting anywhere but the first game.
I'd probably buy one of these remakes but not if i have to start 3 games later into a series.

Uncharted can be started at the 4th game, its what i did, no issues.. it's not like devs doesn't understand that some people will be new to it, so most games are made like that i would say. We even get two levels introducing the main character and his brother from when they were kids.
Not sure there's a way developers can win.
Dev makes new game;
"Games these days sucks, it's never as good as the original, wish they would just remake the original with better graphics, better UI, camera and controls."
vs
Dev makes a remake;
"they have no creativity, they just do remakes when we want a new game."
