"Absolutely disgusting level of optimization. Not only my 3070 Ti feels like 3050, but my 5800X3D feels like Celeron. Get this: in order to get just above 100 FPS at 1440p, I had to use the lowest settings possible AND use DLSS Quality. But wait, there is more! Just lowering graphical settings from max to min gave me eyes watering 20 FPS."

"One of the worst optimizations I've seen in recent years, on par with CP 2077 (and that was more of a buggy mess than anything)"

"this literally pains me to write. I was so excited. I'm thankful sony gave me a refund once I found out it ran at 30 on ps5... got it on my pc with gtx 3080. I even dropped this game to medium settings 1080p 40 fps with quality dlss... and it still can't maintain steady frames (it does generally hit 40 but the stutters are frequent and intense)."

'It Was At This Moment They Knew...'
... they fucked up optimization so bad, that it would hurt the sales.
Yeah, the steam numbers are abysmal. Very rare to see such low numbers for any game. But its still early morning in europe and nighttime in america, we'll see how much they climb later.
The game is very heavy to run, but not that heavy as what those posts say. I tried the latest nvidia driver which brings an uplift in certain newer games, but it gave me lower performance in older ones and visual glitches in others, so i reverted to the previous one. Maybe something got fucked software wise for those guys. The benchmarks the dsog guy did seem sound, he got a bit over 40 frames with a vega 64 at ultra. A 3070TI is not gonna run the game the same at medium and dlss on top.
Im sure they could make the engine more eficient and lean running though. There probably wasn't enough time and funding for this. Seems they were just 70 folks making this. Focus Home though. Yet somehow they managed to output what might be the best looking game yet.
Judging from your screenshots, the game looks phenomenal.
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."
if you're on the latest nvidia driver revert to the previous one because it has problems that hurt performance.
I haven't tried this game yet on my 3060 but will report performance.
Yet somehow they managed to output what might be the best looking game yet.
1060 GTX owners will be so pleased to play this game.
Cinematic 10 fps on low
Seriously i'm not gonna bother with a 1070 TI it will probably melt shame i really liked the first game and no clue when i get the chance to upgrade GPU prices are still not great here.
"stupid gaming industry; why did i buy this new $1,000 GPU when no game actually makes use of it??"
[...]
"stupid gaming industry; why does this phenomally looking game not run with 100+fps on my $1,000 GPU??"
One word, friend: SCALING
It's okay to have ULTRA settings that melt your GPU, CPU and grandma. BUT(!) at the same time, allow High / Medium / Low settings to be perfectly playable for mid/lower-end hardware.
french is shit, english with french accent is the way to go and the way it was made
Don't think I can take French characters in a French setting speaking English with a broken French accent too well for an extended amount of time
You're right, the English VA was the primary one, that the devs had first in mind (bit sad tbh but that's how it goes for an international audience), but the French VA is apparently excellent too. I'll see it for myself, but I think I'll favour a bit of extra immersion over having the original VA. Speaking of immersion, the English guards speak impeccable French.. duh !
I wish it was an option to have protagonists speak their respective languages without resorting to mods, but I don't think I've ever seen such an option for games, ever ?

First time uploading anything but here goes. This shit is driving me nuts and has just started happening. It happens more as i progress, and screw that.
It's quite weird if my 12900k is not sufficient though
It's not, sadly. Check out my DLSS 2 Vs DLSS 3 comparison video (also recorded with a 12900K). From 1:45, which is where the gameplay segment starts, DLSS 3 completely removes CPU bottleneck in both Quality and Performance modes (but mostly in performance).
