In CP all maxed out 3440 x 1440 in 99% GPU utilization places it pulls a maximum of 380 watts. That is the absolute max. With a 5900x the max I pulled (whole system, not sustained) was 580 watts. Absolute max. Have a 850 PSU (RM850x from corsair). You do NOT need atx 3.0 PSU for this.
I had a 3080 ti. My FPS doubled in CP2077, huge increase everywhere else. Basically, in games where I had lower FPS (60ish), it doubled across the board. It is also an RT champ. Max RT everywhere, doesn't even care.
Good card. Had to sell my kidney for it, but it is good.
So a 850w will get the full power of the 4090?
But the RM850x has only 3x 8 pin cables. At least the 2018 model. Aren't you 1x 8 pin cable short?
I have aa Ryzen 3900x is it still enough for 1440p with this card?
I have 3 cables plugged in atm (not optimal, works fine though - I checked this before buying, they did write about this), but the PSU is modular, so you can in fact have more. And I just bought another cable, and will ahve 4 plugged in by tonight.
Doesn`t matter though, it works flawlessly. I will not be OC'ing. I don't care for the plus 5%.
Now for the harder question: 3900x is it still enough for 1440p?
I think not. I run 3440 x 1440, which is still more pixels than 2560x1440 (so the FPS is lower, thus CPU bottleneck presents itself less).
Even on 3440x1440 in Cyberpunk all maxed out there are places, where I am CPU bound (my system is optimized). So a 3900x would bottleneck it often imho at 1440.
This it the right cable for the RM850x right? And were did you bought it?

tl;dw DLSS3 is a very mixed bag (and only makes sense if you‘re already at least over 60 FPS without it (hwu guy says even above 100FPS) because low latency with high FPS feels weird and there is some weird artifacting in certain circumstances, more noticeable at lower frametimes. So its basically only good on the higher end 40x0 cards.
Imo, no reason to wait for lower tier 40x0 cards.
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."
MSI SUPRIM 4090 2420 EUR here.... if the price was 1200 it would be a good deal
I will probably skip this generation since both 4080 are shit based on NVIDIA benchmarks and nowhere near 4090...
Really looks like 16GB is 4070 and 12GB 4060... overpriced shit...
4080 models are totally uninteresting unless they slash the prices by a lot. As for now I would just wait for possible 'Ti' models in hope that AMD releases Zen 4 X3D CPUs as well.
In meanwhile maybe we will see ATX 3.0 PSUs etc, etc.

yeah well I see a lot cheap offers around here, like: 3/4 year old, somehow no warranty, somehow no mining, no gaming, only looking at unpacked box... and 900E price tags, then you open up a profile and see 10 different gpus for sale... no mining, underclocked, no gaming... no time play to games...

I would be fine with ~800€ price tag too. Anything above that -> insta 'meh'.
Same. Up to a iffy $1000~ USD Id be intrigued and ponder getting one.
But these prices? Meh, my 6800xt is doing just fine. A top end video card by itself should not cost as much as an entire upper-mid enthusiast build including everything, monitor, case and all.

I better get a full body massage with happy ending at the door when I receive the package for that price.

And I can confirm a faint coilwhine when in menus in games.
With or without framrate cap?
Without is still unacceptable, but only time I have had it in previous experiences with video cards is when I have it off and the menu is running at like 600fps.
Not saying that situation is understandable. Just curious if its always regardless or not.
But either way, when $1500+ for a videocard you shouldnt need to buy a $5 bottle of clear nail polish and open the card to fix a problem.

Let me try some diff settings later tonight and get back. I've had much worse coil whine on other cards. I just noticed a faint sound when i turned off the speakers to listen.
MSI Suprim 4090 has coil whine only in 250+ FPS menus thus far.
Otherwise it is dead silent. Sits between 65-70 C under full load (RT max titles), with the fans at 30%. I hear nothing. (case has good airflow). My 3080 Ti was louder by quite a margin, I ended up undervolting that for the silence.
This is a beast. A beast that bankrupts people, yes. But a beast nonetheless.

Awesome! Yeah the temps are fantastic. I overlocked to 3000mhz, and temps are around 59-62. Im very impressed

I am running the silent bios, so temps are a bit higher, but dead silent, man. I enjoy it a lot. Full RT on all titles, doesn't even break a sweat, and it just looks great with HDR combined.
