because amd fucked up the heatspreader, it's way too thick. seems like delidding it and using direct die will give you around 75° instead of 95°.

If they can put that kind of money into PC parts, they can afford a cooler, right ? No need to bundle them, right ?

Well if you think about it, no stock cooler that wouldnt raise the price would work to cool it off. The stock wraith prism barely can handle a non overclocked 95watt CPU, they would need to invest in a stock one to cool 220+watts.
They could get them at a bulk company deal I'm sure, but even that say they they get a $45 one for $20. Thats $20 more they have to add to the price.
And I imagine the AMD price is razor thin(ish) to stay competitive for wholesale to venders to start with relying on volume of sales to bring in the profit.

Enabling ECO mode on the AMD ryzen master seems to solve the high CPU temps while slightly reducing performance (about 5%)

They’re all wastes of money, at least this waste of money has multiple PCIE5 slots and USB4. Hopefully it’ll last a few gens without having to change the socket
The B650s that got announced today are also shite and overpriced

Good that the new Cards are using PCIe 5.0.....oh wait they dont. As of now its a useless gimmick.
Sorry but seeing people buy into this nonsense and spend 800-900 Bucks for a fucking Motherboard is just insane and no wonder AIBs are getting away with scalping you (and others).
You should definetly have waited till early next year to see whats out there, competition usually downs the prices.
You should take a look at the GB Aorus Master, better configuration for 250-350€ less.

of course it's useless waste of money, but as long as he is happy, that is all that counts. it's his money.

Surely he can do whatever he likes, who am i to judge. Doesnt change the fact that i can have an opinion about how stupid it is or not really thought through.
One advice in regards to buying a Mainboard, always check how many REAL Phases it has on the VRM Controller. The more the better when you want to use a a high end CPU.

(Or insert whatever you bought above minimum requirements for anything, because you wanted better than bare minimum needed)
People spend money on optional frivolous stuff all the time without realizing its simply they prefer to, they only notice it when someone else does it on a thing they wouldn't.
Some of us might buy PC parts and #1 is: Value for excitement of getting it. #2 is: Value for bang for buck.
Both are important, but one trumps the other: Wait to get the very best eventually. or Get the best I want right now and pay for the 'feels good man'. Second please
If better comes out next year and I can afford it, just means I get to do that again even sooner for the 'feels good man'.
9 times out of 10 whatever we get is overkill for what we need it for anyway even ifs its not the wait for optimal choice one. I mean I dont need a 5800x with 64 gigs ram and a 6800XT for what I play game wise usually.
Only REAL difference is if it will last 4 years, or 5 (if I waited) before its so old no one would even consider it midrange anymore.

The issue with that is that everyone was upset about scalpers and the prices for the 3xxx series, but when the Corp puts that scalped pricetag on it it is ok ?
Doesnt make sense to me.
@Frant
I dont judge him personally in the way that i dont like him or we coudnt be friends because of this, im just explaining that the move itself to buy in such a marketing bullshit is just stupid and not well thought through ! Doenst undermine his person and personallity !

Maybe but i doubt it, its the same as of right now with PCIe 4.0 and 3.0 NVMe`s for example - as a normal user you wont feel any difference if the SSD has a datarate of 6Gbps or just 3.5Gbps, its just marketing blabla.

Aren't those XMP profiles made with maximum performance in mind though? from what i've seen you'll be hard pressed getting more performance out of your sticks than the profiles

I'm neutral either way scalpers or the maker doing it. Not saying I condone it, or its right. Just I wasnt upset myself about it right or not. I simply was mildly inconvenienced while I waited 2 months later than I 'wanted to', to get one at retail price when I could by watching when they dropped new inventory and had someone tag one for me.
And the discussion is if the particular people buying it are OK with paying the price, not if its right the price is that. One is an argument against why it shouldnt be, the other that its the one here, is if a specific people dont mind paying it.
90% of what you buy that isn't bottom tier for its product type is marked up WAY past what would be 'fair' prices. There aren't billion dollar companies galore because they charge only what they need to to make a reasonable profit. So if we are going to get into if its right they do it, we need to be equal and expand that to nearly everything not just video cards The others have just been that way so long you dont realize it is because ist the norm price you have always known and expected: Cars, speakers, tools, clothes, electronics, phones, TVs, furniture ($2000 for a mattress, or $3000 for $250 worth of mass produced couch..gtfo).

I agree, but isn't XMP an intel only thing? I couldn't find any way for everything to be set automatically like that

Thanks! Will check it out after work.
FYI - with no changes from me yet (no ECO mode), the CPU is idling between 50 - 60. When I do some things I see it go into the 70s but it calms down soon after.

@Interinactive Congrats on the new toys! Have fun experimenting!
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."
