Well it's quite clear they had their checklist which too precedent over good, solid actors. That much is blatantly obvious. But fortunately i don't feel this series is very preachy.
The show is decent so far, three plotlines that are working with the wooden elf one being the weakest for me so far. We have a couple of branching stories that are being fairly well fleshed out and they've established 6-7 half decent characters and a villain.
Visually its fine.
it's not preachy / reddit internet issue garbage.
We've had a couple of dumb superhero action sequences but its tolerable.
No slapstick comedy "hobbit" action scenes.
I would have preferred just a new Fantasy IP. Yet I'm not a LOTR super fanboy that has a mental breakdown if beards are different to what was specified on paragraph 2 page 673 of book 2 LOTR.
I didn't expect anything but, for me at least, it's watchable so far. The writing is quite bad, "representation" just what I expected, so nothing surprising.
I think it's really horrible, ep1-2 were ok, then it's all downhill from there. Which character here do you think is even remotely great? In a good show you have a bunch of characters you just can't wait to see the next scene with, there's absolutely nothing like that here. It's a total drag.
I also do think one should take into consideration it's the most expensive TV show ever made. If think about that for a brief moment it becomes even worse when you think of how absolutely fantastic this world is for Fantasy and what could have been done with competent writing and competent people who can do effects etc.
Armors are especially bad, way worse than 1000 times cheaper shows i've seen in the genre, fight choreography is laughable.
like i said earler, i think its some sort of scam, money is going elsewhere, or its out of hand.. With LOTR that happened, Jackson complained openly about it, luxury cars etc.
It's Lord of the Rings and also supposed to cost 1 billion dollars. Of course people will take it too seriously. If it was Karen in the World of the Evil Patriarchy, made by the United League of Untouched Women, then nobody would've cared.

the show is just taking a piss on all men, they're either gay'ish or crying and afraid, perhaps apart from the black dude, he's still allowed to be at least a little bit bad ass, which is super predictable for a woke show i guess.

Hardly, it's legitime criticism. You're a tool and just repeating what the showrunner and shill sites has as an excuse for this to even exist - all the criticism is pure evil and racism and it's just "incels" doing it. lol.. The real Incels are the people defending it and they're doing it because they believe being feminine and shilling for big corporations will somehow finally get them laid in fact most women are not interested in such ""men"" at all, if lucky maybe they can get mercy fucked, but probably with a strap-on.
This exists to ruin a beloved culture, likely one of the longer running fandoms in existence. They included black people in roles where it's lore-breaking so that when overall criticism for the show comes they can claim it's people who are evil and it's because of racism, this directly gets MSM on their side. Very predictable from the start.
And funnily enough the "racist incels" above all praise Sophia Nomvete as a very likable actress in the show, probably the best actor in the show. How racist indeed.. i guess amazon forgot that these people aren't actual racists
