Saw it now. Cinematography seemed nice, the CGI was good also, the OST was a miss, but the cast... There is no punch to them like in GoT. This might change during it's season, but for now the cast is the absolute weakest link and to be brutally honest, quite lame and failed to make this seemed like the dark and gritty world we expect from GoT. Which is a shame since the cast was what made GoT so good. Just think back about all those iconic characters from GoT and now we have.. this..
Story is way too early to tell with the first episode, but nothing offensive. Was a bit tame on the brutality, but at least it was there. Nude chicks also so the purple hairs haven't overtaken the production completely.
Spoiler:
I read stuff like "Birth scene traumatizes the viewers" and i'm thinking what exactly? You don't see much of anything. Camera is always panned far enough away that you only see a bit and that's it.
Newspapers etc made this sound like a bigger woke shitshow than it was. Didn't notice anything woke that bothered me. Only saying this because someone would comment about it if i didn't
very strong first ep, big production quality, amazing score, the daenerys/targaryen theme hit u right in the feels, some cast are great, some getting use to but no doubt got is back. got hooked like immediately from the intro once the drums started banging
what felt strange is seeing the locations in good condition after they got demolished at end of got, and seeing the same locations now but with different actors
lol... the boys wasn't woke until season 2.. it would be absolutely idiotic to start the show with a woke episode, they aren't idiots. so there's no way of knowing until it's finished. only a tard would watch this before its finished. you clearly learned nothing from GoT
I didn't browse the Humps for three days and look what you've done
*thread cleaned up*
I perfectly know that expecting some users to get along here is a pipe dream at this point, but at least try to tolerate each other men. For everyone's* sake!
*where everyone = the 20-30 people on the entire planet who, for unfathomable reasons, still visit us
Edit:
And it escalated again..oh well. Hammer time
Well this one they're less constrained with having to adapt a detailed work, since the source is more of a history book of sorts.
Though I still think Martin expanding the history of the world just showed how shit his history building is due to all these dynasties ruling the same lands for thousands of years. How is that realistic.
Also Aegon the Conqueror is a weeb who decided to go live his incest fantasies by conquering the, for some unknown reason, poor backwater and undeveloped west (when it really shouldn't given the thousands of years), over the already used to valyrian rule, pretty much valyrians just looking for a leader, and very prosperous east.
Pff, they've pre-planned 4 seasons again? There's a deja vu
I'd try to ignore this for a few years, but who am I kidding. I'll try to wait until the end of the season, at least. That the pilot was good doesn't really surprise me.
There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
Truly gone fishing.
got is good when there is source material. when there isn't it's shit.
we all know this. there is source material for the entirety of this series.
there'll be deja vu once those who have read the source, notice they're getting to the end, and it's only episode 1 of season 2 with 3 and 4 announced. I dont people have to worry about season 6 7 8 of got happening here.
I'm glad many were wrong with this, and I hope it'll be a pallet cleanser for got fans. \o/
Good start I thought! Im still hoping for that clockwork Game of Thrones style intro from episode 2 onwards. They kept the main theme during the end credits too!
Spoiler:
May the NFOrce be with you always.

Wow i was fully prepared to turn it off after 20 minutes but i got hooked pretty quickly. Fucking dark as hell though, one of those shows where half the scenes i need to be in darkness to enjoy it on an OLED.
Holy baby geebz, and after reading those "exchanges" the only good think that could come out of this utter fiasco, ordeined from top to bottom, is this:
A turd of a sequel, for what amounts to a turd of a show.
Any other unfucked incel with a hill to die on?
are they really gonna pretend we dont know about dragonglass and make an arc of it for the first season of shit we already know ? or whats the deal with that dagger

I downloaded a 6GB release, which says it's HDR, but fuck me, if that is true HDR, than this show has the worst ever HDR usage. I'll try a different release. It looked so incredibly flat
First ep was great, hope it stays that way.
Outside of the show the producers still keep virtue signalling though, they come across a bit like hostages
Fire & Blood was one of my favorite GRRM books. I really enjoyed the way it was written - sometimes dry but detailed and historically factual from a maesters perspective.
The overarching story is already written now just don't fuck up the details please.

The HBO app said 4k HDR..... on my Samsung Q90 it was extremely dark, boosting the brightness didn't make it much better. They did the same thing with the last few seasons of GoT the blacks were horrible......

We got it in June when Samsung was clearing stock before the Q95 was released it already had the nerfed firmware that messed with dimming zones. I was cycling through the preset picture settings to see if anything improved the picture and not even dynamic touched it. FWIW we used the built in HBO app on the tv, using Brave on the desktop hooked to the TV it looks brighter (forced graphic mode) but no 4K or HDR.....

All sorts of shit is like this, it's annoying as fuck. I thought maybe it was HBO but all sorts of Netflix shows do the same. Like they master it in complete darkness at 20 nits. Setting my LG to "Cinema Home" gave me a boost of detail over "Cinema" but still need to turn off the lights to make out the details in some scenes.
The HBO Original drama series HOUSE OF THE DRAGON has been renewed for a second season.
HOUSE OF THE DRAGON debuted Sunday, August 21, to the largest audience for any new original series in HBO history. The first episode has now been seen by over 20 million viewers across linear, On Demand and HBO Max platforms in the U.S., based on a combination of Nielsen data and first party data.
HOUSE OF THE DRAGON garnered strong critical praise for the “flat-out stunning” show (Entertainment Weekly), with IGN declaring “It’s good to be back in backstabbing Westeros.” Los Angeles Times hailed it “a new, engrossing chapter in HBO’s epic,” and Wall Street Journal noted it’s “as captivating as any season of ‘Game of Thrones.’”
