Prey - 7/10

Day Shift - 5/10
It has great action choreography but the on the last act the screenwriter just quit and no one keep giving any fuck about established rules of the film mythology.
Overall it was ok and mostly fun braindead action movie.

Batman (2022)

Turns out that HBO which I get with the cable package shows fresh movies Surprised so I accidentally a whole movie in an evening.

Somewhat depressing but pretty good Batman movie. The vampire guy acts serious enough. Somehow Ben Affleck is in my mind whenever I think of how the older Batman comics would look like if turned into movies, but when things get psychological, actors such as Bale or this vampire guy seem to fit much better.

Not saying it should've been an epic guns blazing battle, but to just wait, kill the man, get back in the boat and roll credits Confused I get what they tried to do but I don't think it worked out so well.

Anyway, Platoon will be next (not sure when I'll watch, but I'll get around to it Smile)

Yeah, I understand it, but at that point you've already watched close to 3.5 hours of chaos and madness (the Redux version). How do you even top all that? Very Happy

-> Hacking a cow in twine (that was real, btw), with Brando saying "The horror, the horror" until it fades out. Pretty perfect in my book Laughing

Platoon is great, but feels very cliché these days, because it's been copied so much. Charlie Sheen with his bandana, for example Laughing

Gory, action packed and awesome from start to finish.
Great cast and hilarious to boot!
Probably the best movie I’ve seen all year!

So Day Shift is just another crap US remake of a foreign movie (Russian in this case)? As expected.

No, you mistook it for Day/Night Watch. It has nothing to do with it.
Netflix movie is about idiots hunting vampires ;P

Having booked tickets for Nope last week, I decided to watch Jordan Peele’s first 2 movies beforehand. Thought they might all be connected in someway but definitely not the case.

Get Out (2017) - 8/10 - Really enjoyed this one and Jordan Peele’s best movie so far in my opinion. Really kept me guessing and hooked throughout.
Us (2019) - 6/10 - Bit of a disappointment after Get Out but still a fun movie. Premise was a bit dumb but it was an interesting and somewhat original idea I thought.
Nope (2022) - 7/10 - Very slow start and anti-climactic ending! Enjoyable between the beginning and end with some good audio and visual effects.

The NeverEnding Story 9/10

Classic, and the visuals are still great. It gave me nightmares when I saw it the first time, and I'm sure it will still give ones to 8 year olds today Laughing

I watched it when I was about five and found it mind-blowingly epic in every way, but also traumatic to some degree because...we all know why Very Happy
Gmork definitely creeped me out though, not quite as much as Ghostbusters' demon dog but close enough. It's fascinating how such silly puppets could strongly impress a kid's brain by triggering its endless imagination and primal fears.

@Areius: you're in for a great time!

I still loved it, don't get me wrong. My favorite childhood movie was probably either this or The Goonies. I was already very much into reading as a kid and this movie only improved on that Smile

The nightmare part Wink (actually the chase before was worse)
 Spoiler:

The puppet made it a lot worse (realistic) than the stop-motion Ghostbuster one.

Prey 7/10

Better than expected. The most retarded part really was the "because you say I can't" line/motivation but everything else was pretty ok.

Dunno, its esthetics & visuals reminded of Legend, which came out the year after, in 1985.
(more so than Labyrinth, which has pretty much its own unique visual esthetics, and I don't think Jim Henson was involved in either The NeverEnding Story or Legend)

Lots if not most of the fantasy parts are obviously filmed in a studio, making the result feel earie and "uncanny valley".

No time to die. 6.4/10

Okish, entertaining, good camera, nice visuals, infinitely dumb plot.

Ana de Armas was hot.

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."
