i guess the single player is much better now since original release, back then u had to do the game 3-4 times in different difficulty to get max level, it was stupid, felt stupid and gearing was horrendous
go for it, alltough u can play till a certain level for free these days too i think d3 starter edition
i did but it felt total crap in d3, 2 days it to get max level and u woulodnt find any legendaries, it was the most horrible start of a item hack n slash game i had ever experienced
not to mention my first legendary was a bow for my barb like 20+ hours into the game ....
i watched some videos of diablo 1 and 2.. diablo 1 was the one i was playing the shit out of, diablo 2 not so much, i do remember some stuff from it like the music, but i dont think i spent a lot of time with that game.
Can't recall all the details on why but if I remember right you could get better rare items in classic (like dual leech rings), whereas in LoD it was all about runewords and uniques and sets which wasn't as interesting to me.
There were also some difficulty and exp gain changes where I liked it better how it was in classic.
Never cared for the druid or assassin either. I just played sorc, barb, ama mostly
Was great that they allowed you to play both anyway. Is that in the remaster as well? I assume not.

u should try d1, i replayed it recently with a mod , i actually enjoyed it and the loot drops, yes its a little tedious, but the atmosphere is just what made diablo the franchise it is now
Surprised there haven't been any indie titles that have tried the D1 route. More tactical, slower gameplay, all atmosphere, horror vibe. Instead they all try to mimic the modern ARPG where your eyes just glaze over as screen after screen melts and you try to find some shitty item that drops literally one time in a few million. D4 definitely has a darker vibe to it but in terms of gameplay it's going to be D3 like.
Also i miss the unique death animations of D1 and D2 Much cooler than corpses that fly 100 feet into the air with questionable physics
