Maybe I need to play more but I am really not seeing why so many people hyped up this game. Feels like almost every other Spider-Man game but maybe the console hype just made it seem like it was going to be so much more than what the game really is.

The thing is we get so much trash these days that a decent, working game gets praised to the heavens.

The entirety of sony's open world games ape Far Cry 3 and near the entire industry actually. That game was ground zero for most devs.
Days Gone has 1:1 tail missions from Assassin's Creed 2. Not inspired by, literally copy pasting them, you go stand in the bushes near 2 guys and you wait until the listening slider above fills. Horizon has the hacking minigame from Watch Dogs where you rearange shapes.
Far Cry 3 had a profound impact on the industry - open world, crafting, skill trees, level up, unlocking areas, towers, gathering matterials and so on.
Thats why its funny when an exclusive comes out, copies ubisoft from 10 years ago but its fans pretend its something else and evolved, because its the favourite console manufacturer doing it. And they need all the exclusive ammo they can get for online console wars against their arch nemesis from the other two hardware manufactureres

the same people that scream sony cults are the same people that scream pcmr that refuse to play anywhere else except on pc.....so wtf are u talking about
if ur a true gamer then u dont limit urself to 1 device, what worked best was having a pc + ps combo for the exclusives as xbox dosent have shit, u dont even need a nintendo couse u emulate most their shit on pc.
compared to what xbox is offering, and the many of indie flooding junk on pc then yes, sony exclusives are masterpieces
after playing this for a few hours, its an ok game so far, very polished and well done. not better than arkham games like some people are saying

What does "true gamer" have to do with how many plastic boxes you collect ?
Seems to me all these sony masterpieces that work the ubisoft book very thoroughly dont really keep their masterpiece status once they cant be used as ammo anymore.
Sony exclusives are lab produced focus tested games that copy every popular trend available and designed to score high on metacritic. Focus tested to hell and back until mock reviews give the intended result. Replace the backpack collecting from this game with the feathers from AC2, its the same thing.

you are nitpicking the most stupid shit, even gta games had u running colecting shit. every artist is copying each other, what matter is if u improve the work, and sony games do that. even if horizon and this one feels like a ubisoft games, they are so much more enjoyable than their games.

He may not have, but I have and he's absolutely right. They simply swapped collecting annoying things for slightly less annoying things, but there are still hundreds of them.
Valhalla alone has over 780 collectibles. But hey, that's totally different somehow.

lmao, idk what u played. colleting shit were in games since a long time ago, the mechanic is a very small part of the game. this games strength lies in everything else where recent ass creeds failed.

Didnt buy/play spoderman yet but generally if the collecting doesnt obstruct the gameplay and you can simply ignore it why even get bothered?
Dunno whats the case here but yeah i usually ignore it if i can.

Played for a few hours, but at the moment not very impressed. Visuals are nice, and swinging around the city is fun but also gets old fast. The neo-ubi open world stuff is all there: unlock towers to open the map and see the collectibles, procedurally generated crimes to fight, which you all need to do to upgrade your shit.
There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
Truly gone fishing.

yeah,they take place after the main story...don't remember exactly the lenght but i remember i liked them very much at the time.If you liked the main story you will like the dlc episodes ,same quality

DLC is as good as the main game so if you finished it you better play the dlc.
Also funny how people criticise collectible and farming in this game. This is bullshit, I finished it on PS4 without doing ANY side quest or collectible and just played it like a regular linear game, was perfectly fine. Nor did I farm towers.
Nobody is forcing you on farming anything, this is not a ubi shit game and comparing this one to Ass creed valhalla is hilarious. The story at least here is existent

i think i played more than half of the campaign about now, also did a fair share of side quests and some of the "busy" work and i like the game very much at this point, not really a fan of spiderman character but game is great. and because the rest of the game is great, i enjoy doing some of said "busy" work, unlike asscreed here i like doing the outposts couse combat is good, but yes, you do the busy work if u want to upgrade gadgets but in combat i rearly use them anyway so you can get away without doing them.

Yea it's like a Ubisoft game but much better.
Since you so quickly traverse the city the "chores" don't feel so tedious, even the Ubisoft'esque towers are not some time consuming thing you gotta do. It takes seconds.
Not to mention the variety of things to do
In Ubisoft games I always feel the strong want to be finally done with the side things so I can go back to the main story, here it's rather easy to get lost in those things instead
Side quests aren't bad either
And since a majority of activities either involve the web swining or the combat (which I think is pretty decent, far better then AC combat) it's all fine by me
Even doing the same crime accidentally for the 5th time is fine because combat is fun and evolves through your skills and gadgets and most importantly doesn't take
Though I think it's pretty cool that there is activities that have nothing to do with the usual gameplay loop at all. Like the lab puzzles or the photography
8.5/10 or so
But I'm only half-way through so far.
Btw. despite my bashing, the AC games definitely do world building very very well, maybe better than Spider-Man, and even Origins looks better than this game. It's the things you get to do in their worlds that are the problem and are sub-par. That includes Watch-Dogs Legion as well.

He has a different moveset, mechanics and animations in the DLC/expansion (that's coming to PC this fall).
I vastly prefer swinging as Miles, as compared to Peter.
