2/3 Princeps + 1/2 Triarii + 2/3 Sagittarus (only few situations justify having 2 archers and not 3).

Lots of " / " there, so a "lot" of layway when it comes to building you killer crew.
And while I'm sure any structure might get a win, mine is just the "always safe, never sorry" type.

What do you think? Smile

Yeah, this is quite similar to what I run when doing pacification missions. 2 tanks, 1 healer who hits like a truck, and 3 archers.

I just try to get my tanks to wade into the thick of it and engage overwatch haha. It's fun.

As for story missions, I go with the story companions for the rp aspect.

But yeah, this is a great game and it is a shame that the studio who made this won't be making anymore. :/

I'm loving this. A question for those who have played the earlier games - are they as good as this or is this a big improvement? I might go back and play those once I'm finished

Yup, Rome is superior by far. it is improvement pretty much in every way.
Vikings are really nice too, but Conquistador are kind... raw gem now.

Viking initially shipped in a precarious state but after the dozens of patches and changes (more variety added to the combat, speed sliders, improvements to the engine etc.) it became a solid experience as far as the cRPG genre goes. Flawed and with some odd design decisions, but definitely worth playing for the meaningful C&C and good writing alone, quests/factions that are pertinent to the setting and some wicked plot twists Razz. Conquistador was very interesting as well, albeit on the repetitive side.

I haven't played Rome yet because I was waiting the usual year or so, though it seems the situation was/is a lot better thanks to the higher budget. Hopefully not all the devs will migrate to that ridiculous NFT thing and the series will have a future..but who knows really, we're living in special times.

Finally finished it after almost 60 hours. The first half was very challenging and rewarding. With the exception of the almost pointless battles, it was one of the best games of the year.

I must have fought dozens of those battles and even now I don't fully understand how they worked. Auto-resolve > pick most advantageous tactic was what it was reduced to in the end, they got old QUICK.
