Some directors are just not great at doing follow up films in the same universe as they use up all their creativity in the first film and try to recapture that magic in the next film, which in this case sounds like he failed at.

Maybe its because people have seen 9999999999x of the same movie and tv show with a different costumed character, and they are starting to get sick of the formula?
one reason being posted for the shit reviews is something happens in the movie that the critics didn't want to happen and they were disappointed.

otherwise, from what I'm hearing is that the movie is a typical Taika movie. pretty, funny, with heart, generic untethered mcu movie like Ragnarok and guardians. if you like taikas directing and style you'll enjoy it.
I'm waiting for Disney+ hopefully they'll pull a 45 day Disney+ like they did with Dr strange 2.
Also thinking back to the movie i am pretty sure which scenes will be hated by certain kinds of glorified bloggers

Thor: Love & Thunder
Most of Marvel and DC comic books are hot garbage, stupid and for kids. Waititi knows it and embraces it in this movie. Objectively it's not a good movie, some points from the reviews are valid, that the plot is really basic and not every joke hits but... It's the most Waititi movie of all Waititi movies. It's the What Thor Do In The Shadows and Asgardian Paranormal. If you like those shows you will probably enjoy this Thor - I did, I laughed, I had great time. It's bordering on schlock but I love schlock, it's know it's just a stupid movie for man-children and embraces it.
It has some great ideas to like the 60's stylized shadow zone.

I have not seen the film yet so don't think this is a spoiler, but it seems Russell Crowe was originally going to play the Devil as some of the early concept art from the film was just released showing what he might have looked like.
It was... ok. no Ragnarök.. it's not a movie you need to watch at the cinema, or at all, really. In case you have zero movies to watch, sure, you might be slightly entertained, it's a chuckle here and there, it's cute, feel-good, for the most part. If you have kids it can be a decent movie to watch with them.
There's a little virtue signaling, but it's a matter of a sentence or two. Some sites reported about him having long discussions about how to to represent lesbians in the movie with the black actor who plays Valkyrie.. there's no such thing in the final cut anyways, apart from one sentence where you understand she's lesbian. Also she's a "king" not a queen, it's some new shit from the woke idiots, there's a new movie coming out too called The Woman King. so i guess it's some new hip thing if you're woke, Queen (because it's feminine form) is toxic. lol.

They could really just go with "ruler" or "queen" pronounce, women can't be "king" as men can't be "queens".
This movie had a lot of potential, but the screwed up in my book.
Should have shown more of the villain killing Gods and less jokes about random stuff.

this was surprisingly good, hit all the good marks, but plot was kinda whatever. felt like a guardians movie, idk but it didnt deserved all the hate before launch with the trailers and what many thought would happen in this movie that clearly didnt happen, just another example to just stfu and watch the movie for urself first.

The planet hulk adaptation was great, similarly to the first Guardians of the Galaxy.. this was a weak 2/5 imo, Ragnarök solid 4/5, has everything this movie totally misses out on including being at least somewhat funny.
Story is absolutely retarded... "oh no - cancer! oh wait, what is this, Thor's Hammer! Yay i got super powers that defeats cancer, what are the odds!! Wahman are the best, even better than males!" even a for a super hero movie it is shit
