you're right about the Ori soldiers, they were just some lame farmers with a metal armor and some advanced weapon.
but the Jaffa were very different, they trained all their lifes to be soldiers, and they made some pretty strong army with very good fighting capabilities.

That could be killed in swarms by SG-1, a scientist, an archaeologist, another Jaffa, and an army guy.
See the wide large gaping hole in the supposed "Jaffa"-superiority.

Honestly though, the Cylons are generally pussies too. There was that one episode where they boarded the Galactica and for some reason these were 'uber' cylons that could only be damaged with explosive rounds. But every other time they are encountered a simple pistol can take them down with a couple of shots. What the fuck?

I hate SCI-fis schedules, why cant they just run stuff like other people? Why do season have to be broken half and be spread across summer and winter?

this weeks SG-1 sucked, they are saving everything for the next episode, the season finale.
changing subject, what do you guys tought of Battlestar Galactica?
is chief a Cylon? or is it the shrink?
it was quite intersting what the shrink said, "you are not a cylon because I am a cylon and I had never saw you at any cylon reunion"
and what about the planet they discovered? is it earth? or a completly new planet?

You forget that those guns have a slot underneath the main barrel for special explosive rounds.
It wasn't the main ammo for the pistol that took those robots out, it was a direct hit in the head with an explosive round that (usually) did it. And if you'd watch that episode once more, you'd see that it wasn't as easy as you explain.
Remember that most of the people on the Galactica are (by the time they're fighting them on board the ship) quite used to fighting these things. The Cylons were, after all created by man, and the robot versions were especially constructed by human engineers.
How those charges in these guns work? No idea, mayhaps it's specially designed for taking out these combat models of Cylons?
Remember, SG-1, and Atlantis exist in a world that's "just" discovered outer space, but still they manage to combat every opponent (using earth weaponry) to the degree that most of the opposition is soundly beaten.
These Go'auld leaders have been alive for thousands of years (by exchanging human bodies over time) and still they all basically retain the basic intellect of a clown with enormous narcissist problems.
The explanation I see for this is the target audiences; SG-1 / Atlantis are created more for sheer entertainment value, and a broader audience (also seen from the amount of viewers, and younger fanbase) - this makes it so, that they need the heroes to go through overwhelming odds, but never experiencing (really) any direct wounds, or "real" circumstances (4 vs. X (where X, nearly always is twice the amount of 4)).
You might say that if you suspend disbelief, both SG-1 and Atlantis has an entertainment value, and I agree fullily. Both series are light hearted, and somewhat soapy. There is no real character development (I've argued this prior to this), and the motives for whatever civilization the Stargate-teams from earth meets are most oftenly surface-thin.
It's a rather naïve construct, that only works if you really "just watch it, and don't think about it". Sort of like some (if not most) of the WW2-movies made by the Hollywood industry. Where Nazi-Germany is viewed as an unintelligent scheme by only a power-hungry mad man.
Ignorance is bliss, I suppose.
I've been watching both SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis from the getgo, and still do. I agree that they have an entertainment value, but that it's cartoon-like, and a bit cheesy at best. The series have heart, and younger audiences are also invited to watch it.
And this is how I view it.
Yes, yes I'm back.

FUCK, I wrote a long and interesting post about Galatica here but it got fucking deleted when firefox crashed! ARGH!
Well anyway Fisk, what I meant was, in that one episode where they board galactica it takes explosive rounds to kill the cylon centurians, in every other episode a pistol using normal ammo seems capable. Continuity error?
As for the differences between the human form cylons, well thats easily explainable by saying they were engineered for different purposes. Because some of them seem to have exceptional speed, endurance and strength, while others seems essentially human.

Ehh, in which episode have the robot cylons been destroyed by regular pistol ammo?
Just give me one example, and I'll verify it.

Season 2 episode 6 about 36 minutes into it. Apollo kills one.
Don't try to tell me that was explosive ammo because they have to reload each explosive round individually.

Like it, sort of.... I think it was horribly rushed unfortunately. Wish the transition could have been more gentle. Great entertainment nonetheless.

I think it should have been a 2 episode finale.

Indeed, this is like Alias Season 4, leaves with 2000000000000000000000000 questions.

Except SG1 escaped on a escape pod. When the earth ship got blown up(i think it was the earth ship) there was a yellow streak that came out of it and went away from it. I bet it was a escape pod.

no, we can see Mitchell running within the ship when she blows up, there are only 2 solutions for SG-1 survival, they have all been transported to another ship, or they have been ascended by the ancients or the ori.
hope they saved carter also, is a damned stupid way to die in the cold of space.
as for battlestar galactica, I cannot see the point on that ending, I mean, if the cylons really wan't to keep humans alive, why did they bother to show up and made them surrender?, Baltar is a frakking failure as a president, I did not think that he would turn over night like that.
