@jackbomb
One of my favorite ones. Joe's sound is amazing to me.

Along with the range of style of songs he does. He's very late 80's early 90's vibe, but he does rock, metal, chill, ambient(ish), jazzy songs, like "surfing with the alien" album has a good mix of different style songs on it.
I think its also his songs has no vocals it's all instrumental, which is my favorite type of music.

John Petrucci, Randy Rhoads, David Gilmour, Jimmy Page, Marty Friedman, Yngwie Malmsteen, Tom Morello...there are so many Very Happy

Among the extra-vintage ones Django Reinhardt definitely deserves a shout as well.

You guys want vintage stuff but whatever..

A guy covering Alexi Laiho Children of Bodom (RIP), this guy certainly one of best talents in years in metal.

COB - Hatebreeder and Follow the Reaper, also Something Wild are peak guitar god level stuff. The rest changed style heavily, I guess more mainstream moving away the blended styles of metal, rock and classical that inspired those first few releases.

To add another, Michel Akelfelt / Opeth is also god tier guitarist and composer imo, whether metal or their new stuff.
